I saw a YT vid with someone usig a 556 bullet at 5000fps to defeat really thick plate...despite no steel core. youtuber was glenn plant

Logically then,  a 45grain .18 with steel core could do the same at 300m.

that means a hot 30.06 case but zero recoil despite 5500fps.

In terms of barrel dynamics, what would the long term effects of a 5500fps sabot be. would there be safety concerns of a dodgy sabot sending the bullet into the barrel?

even with a squishy sabot would a sustained GPMG start to experience heat or wear problems...

I gather UK tanks are rifled yet they have this velocity.
