Of course, but the armor of the 10RC is offering protection mostly against rain and sun, so it could be a cultural shock when you're transitioning from a tank.

Might not be a tank crew, might be an IFV crew. But I am seriously interested to see what the 10RCs will accomplish. Probably nothing now and a lot more once the ground is dry.

Given that Leopard 2 might not be coming in any quanitity and Leo1 is mostly on the books , the light-protected firepower concept will see a test.

Expensive upgrade ~$17 million USD to convert a M1A1 SA to a M1A2 SEP v3! later drops to 9.5mio $ , makes anti tank drones seem like a bargain .

Who knows? there is also question if any new ones are actually still being built or if they are just recycling the thousands held in stocks.
And it seems my post is inaccurate congress papers indicate upgrade cost FY 2023 as 11.7mio$ not 9.8milion$
Rough-y 5mio difference , 11.7 vs 17mio $ for upgrade from from M1A1SA or M1A2 SEP2 base vehicle
Cost of upgrades only, not new production.
- The Average Procurement Unit Cost (APUC) for FY 2023 is $11.738 million for a quantity of 44 M1A2 SEPv3 tanks using the M1A2 SEPv2 as the seed vehicle for all 44 tank upgrades.
- The Average Procurement Unit Cost (APUC) for FY 2022 is $11.555 million for a quantity of 90 M1A2 SEPv3 tanks using the M1A2 SEPv2 as the seed vehicle for all 90 tank upgrades.

Roughly the same.
The tanks will not only be upgraded but completly refurbished. So they will be as good as new. There are some savings but its not massive.

A pretty good pick I would say. Could have been much worse.
