I think its the "Putzzeug" for the Swiss Sturngewehr 57. The two cylindrical containers hold "Automatenfett" (grease).

Basically, it is still in use, because the Stgw 57 and its civilian semi-automatic PE  version are still around. About 1990, the Swiss started issuing the 5.6 mm (.223) Sturmgewehr 90 to new recruits.
