I remember my first high-speed shoot. Shot synchronized with camera reaching 1,000 frames/sec with a few thousand watts of close-in illumination, Wet processing of 16mm, black and white film, pushed to ASA 2000, took at least 15 minutes before viewing. Target was a raw ham with a pressure transducer in an oil-filled pocket and accelerometers on the bone. Investigating terminal effects for the coroner when Los Angeles Police were looking to replace the .38 Special as their issue firearm.

Conclusion was foregone. .38 Special was soon abandoned. I was working in automotive safety at the time, We were developing air bags and had what was then (mid-1970s) "high-speed" instrumentation. Soon moved on to aero-ballistics and micro-second resolution.
