It seems that it's not just Germany that wants AR to be its main GI rifle platform!

Google translate seems to say ,  like on many other topics that is time to lobby for small business offering innovative products, vs inertia on huge systems that are slow to react. And from what i see browsing trough telegram channels is that replacing SVDs with modern rifles is the only topic where there is even a hint of having anything Ar10 based. But in reality , in sniping its about optics and ammo not guns . Without quality sniper ammo readily available to troops, gold plated guns are of little advantage over legacy systems. Another thing is these garage workshops can make couple hundred guns at best , and Kalashnikov can make 500k plus.

How "in the garage" produce the most accurate rifles in the world?

Russia, without any irony or exaggeration, is a country of great and bright talents. Not always noticed and appreciated - including by their own state. It's not only about classical art and science, but also design engineering. It just so happened - huge territories, huge administrative and bureaucratic inertia quite often leave out of the state attention - sometimes the best of the best, relying on more familiar - no, not bad - but morally outdated developments.

So, for example, we have the situation in the field of sniper and small arms. However, ITS, among other things, has become a unique opportunity to overcome this innate inertia of ours. This war has opened up to us - new heroes, new politicians, new artists and, of course, new gunsmiths, who were previously known only in narrow professional circles.

Vladislav Lobaev (https://t.me/lobaev_vlad ) with his unique sniper rifles - just one of them.

For me as a member of the Working Group on its (https://t.me/RG_SVO Russian Russian is extremely important to help with the establishment of communication between those politicians who are able to break through the wall of our Russian inattention, and actually the Russian talents themselves. A trip to a small family factory in Tarusa with Andrey Turchak (https://t.me/turchak_andrey ) - the chairman of the Federation Council and the head of the Working Group - just about that.

Short reply: No, it does not

Explanation: The rifles in the link are the AR-10 style semi-auto match guns, not the AR-15 style automatic assault rifle. Some people believe that a custom "garage made" accurized AR-10 clone in .308 is better than the SVD as a marksman / sniper rifle.

The key issues are

1) those custom commercial AR-10s are very expensive

2) their reliability "in the trenches" is usually not up to the standards set by the AK or SVD

3) there are no "improved penetration" rounds in .308 similar in effect to the 7N14 in 7.62x54R

How is the penetration of this load?

Is the concern there body armor, or more penetrating intermediate barriers?
