A while ago I watched a video (and now of course I can't find it) that claimed that snipers accounted for something like 6% of casualties in the war, whereas regular small arms fire doesn't even blip. I am finding this somewhat hard to believe. The clip also claimed that a unit of ~60 snipers dug out a mechanised battallion from a bad situation.
Is this true, does anybody know? And if it is, should this lkead to reevaluation of snipers in the West?

Most likely bulshit on both accounts , i have been closely following sniping in Ukraine and its not a mayor factor in casualties and no one fields units of 60 snipers.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's something like, "These small-arms casualties are head shots, only sniper is good enough to do that"! Instead of people are just putting their head and shoulders above a trench.
There's also the "optic=sniper" belief among the ignorant of weaponry.

Or "most casualties from small arms happen when the shooter is concealed and has caught the shootee unawares" ergo sniper.
