Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

This is a fast vegan smoothie with a deep pink color and a rich, creamy texture.  VERY filling, and perfect for people in a rush in the morning.  You don't have to give up a good breakfast when it's this fast to make!  Use vitamin fortified soy milk.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup soy milk
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 banana, broken into chunks
  • 14 frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons white sugar

Directions:

  1. In a blender, combine soy milk, oats, banana and strawberries.  Add vanilla and sugar if desired.  Blend until smooth.  Pour into glasses and serve.

A Berry-Purple Smoothie

Two luscious fruits in one delicious smoothie!  With canned fruit, like pineapple and blueberries, a smoothie is an easy way to fit nutrient-rich fruit into your everyday meals and snacks.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapples in juice, chilled
  • 1 (16.5 ounce) can blueberries or blackberries in light syrup, chilled and drained
  • 1 1/2 cups small ice cubes
  • 1 (6 ounce) container low-fat lemon or vanilla yogurt

Directions:

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth.  Serve immediately or keep chilled for up to one hour.  Mix again before serving.

All-Bran Field Berry Smoothie

Wake up with a feel-good smoothie that's filled with berries and a whole lotta delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup frozen or fresh mixed berries
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 1 (23 g) pouch All-Bran Buds* cereal singles

Directions:

  1. Place fruit in blender container.  Add milk, yogurt and All-Bran Buds*. Blend until smooth.  Makes 500 mL (2 cups).

Apple Banana Smoothie

Thick and healthy fruit drink with apple, banana and orange juice.  The frozen banana takes the place of shaved ice and results in a smooth, creamy texture.  Serve with dollop of whipped cream for added effect.

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen bananas, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 Gala apple, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1/4 cup milk

Directions:

  1. In a blender combine frozen banana, orange juice, apple and milk.  Blend until smooth. pour into glasses and serve.

Banana and Strawberry Smoothie

This smoothie will leave you feeling refreshed and give you that little extra boost you need to get you through the day.  It also tastes great!

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 5 strawberries, hulled
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • 1 drop red food coloring (optional)

Directions:

  1. Combine the banana, strawberries, cinnamon, milk, and food coloring in a blender; blend until smooth; serve immediately.

Banana Colada

This is a rich, soothing, summer smoothie-type rum drink.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 4 fluid ounces cream of coconut
  • 6 fluid ounces rum
  • 4 fluid ounces banana liqueur
  • 3 cups crushed ice

Directions:

  1. In a blender, combine bananas, cream of coconut, rum, banana liqueur and ice.  Blend until smooth.  Pour into glasses and serve.

Blueberry Smoothie

A delicious way to use up your blueberries!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup blueberries (frozen or fresh)
  • 1 (8 ounce) container plain yogurt
  • 3/4 cup 2% reduced-fat milk
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions:

  1. Blend the blueberries, yogurt, milk, sugar, vanilla, and nutmeg in a blender until frothy, scraping down the sides of the blender with a spatula occasionally.  Serve immediately.

Blueberry, Banana, and Peanut Butter Smoothie

This is the perfect smoothie to get your day moving, to give you a boost, or to serve as a kid-friendly snack!

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon flax seed meal or wheat germ
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Put ground flax seed meal or wheat germ into blender to grind and further breakdown.  This will also eliminate any bitterness from the flax seed.
  2. Place the banana, blueberries, peanut butter, honey, yogurt, and milk into the blender.  Cover, and puree until smooth.  Pour into glasses to serve.

California Smoothie

Cool off with this fruity frappe from sunny California.

Ingredients:

  • 7 large strawberries
  • 1 (8 ounce) container lemon yogurt
  • 1/3 cup orange juice

Directions:

  1. Place strawberries in a plastic container and freeze for about an hour.
     
  2. In a blender, combine frozen strawberries, yogurt and orange juice.  Blend until smooth.  Pour into a tall glass and serve.

Cantaloupe Berry Smoothie

Cantaloupe and raspberries are blended with yogurt.  This is great when cantaloupe is in season.  Try it with strawberries in place of the raspberries!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cantaloupe - peeled, seeded and cubed
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar

Directions:

  1. In a blender, combine cantaloupe chunks, yogurt, raspberries and sugar.  Blend until smooth.  Pour into glasses and serve.
