To Kill Mockingbird and Anne Frank were the only ones on the list my teachers chose.
I think my schools were more into classics.

I read both of those in high school.  Also Lord of the Flies ... although I don't think it was for school.

On my own I was more interested in novels based on history, ie GWTW and Dr Zhivago. I also liked a writer I cannot recall right now. When I was packing up to move I got library tapes and listened. Time flew by.

Got curious and checked. It was Michener I liked to listen to while packing.

Still wonky, I did get to it on my cell phone, no problem.  On my computer, I adjusted and changed cookies and history recorded, no change except harder to use, weird.

Lord of the Flies

1984

Frankenstein

Fahrenheit 451

These I read as a youngster, probably on my own, some of the list were not yet available at the time.

The only one I read in school was Lord of the Flies. I did read The Handmaid's Tale while I was in High School, but that was on my own and not for anything school related.

I don't particularly care of historical novels ... but I loved Dr Zhivago!
