Although, I have to wonder if regional differences account for some of the unintended humor.
Oh I feel those who resort to using such "humor", do so knowing EXACTLY what it means.

The current popularity of the beanbag game known as cornhole may be an example of this. When I was growing up in California, that term had an ENTIRELY different meaning.
I likewise am familiar with that particular term. However as to what it MEANS, may be an entirely different thing though.....as in my distant past, I recall it having something to do with pirates and their practice of "tossing someone overboard" with a rope tied around them, and then "hauling them BENEATH the vessel , from one side to the other. The exact phrase escapes me now, but it HAD something to do with "hulling".
Does that ring any bells for you?
