Think of all the laughter we would miss if so many of our fellow humans weren't so wonderfully clueless!

Although, I have to wonder if regional differences account for some of the unintended humor.

The current popularity of the beanbag game known as cornhole may be an example of this. When I was growing up in California, that term had an ENTIRELY different meaning.

Oh I feel those who resort to using such "humor", do so knowing EXACTLY what it means.

I likewise am familiar with that particular term.  However as to what it MEANS, may be an entirely different thing though.....as in my distant past, I recall it having something to do with pirates and their practice of "tossing someone overboard" with a rope tied around them, and then "hauling them BENEATH the vessel , from one side to the other.  The exact phrase escapes me now, but it HAD something to do with "hulling".

Does that ring any bells for you?

Keelhauling . . .

Windtraveler: Keel Hauling

The cornholing of my youth carried a more, um, shall we say, sexual connotation and let it go at that.

YUP!  That was it.  Not the same as what you're referring to.......as I do remember it, but was never permitted (as a child) to ask about it...wasn't considered "appropriate".    But I can guess without much effort as to what it DOES mean though :)   It's been a long time since I even HEARD someone mention it....and now it's a KIDS GAME"?......sad indeed.
