It’s a sweet story of rescue, marred by the pit reference at the very end and stupid baby talking.  Why do people talk to dogs in silly voices?  Pet parents, OMG.   I say nice things to my dogs but I don’t sound like an idiot.

You know dogs love silly voices.

Oh, God. I literally lovingly call Ray "silly" in a silly voice.

They might but I don’t. Does your trainer tell you to use one? Mine said not to.

I also call him ####, ####, etc. He doesn't know the difference

But is it respectful?

No I’ve never been told to use one or not to. The reward markers have higher pitched, more exciting tone than other words. It’s more apart of what they mean when they say throw the dog a party. The tone of commands and things like that get stressed more. I don’t really do a lot of frivolous talking to my dogs. Usually if they hear my voice there is a pronounced reaction.
