Every dog owner should read his book from 1963, The New Knowledge of Dog Behavior.  I'm reading it when I have time.  I love this quote:

Talking about both humans and dogs he said "The greatest deterrent to supreme happiness is ennui: boredom resulting from a lack of something to do.  This is what prevents dogs from achieving their greatest potential."

I think it was one of the better dog books I have ever read.

He is guide dog program, using German Shepherds and other breeds went from a 7% success rate to 75%.
