Can Ray take below freezing wind chill?   Health, Nutrition and Exercise

So we're taking him up to some exposed ridges where it will be literally freezing. There is likely to be moderate winds as well. 

I know they are capable of handling the cold but is the wind chill going to be too much?

Where we live probably gets to freezing once every five years. He sleeps at a standard room temperature.

No, you can get dog coats if it’s very cold.

There is a hunting company here that makes fleece ones but they might not have thr size.

Maybe a dog sweater. Ask Sol. She gets snow.

When winter starts it’s mainly just the paw pads I’ve noticed my dogs struggling with. My fairly thin coated lab will lay down in the snow in the negatives.

Some people do coats. If you’re staying active while hiking he should be fine assuming he has a standard stock coat.

I forgot you are in snow country.  You get more snow than anyone else.

Yeah it'll be up then down. Maybe some hanging out at the top. 2/5 of the hike is above the bushline.
