I've found the best treatment to be Head & Shoulders Eucalyptus Conditioner. Placed directly on the sores daily for at least a week and then weekly for maintenance. I have one mare that came to me with sores on her and this is the only thing that has gotten them to clear up. Also works on Sallenders sores on the front of the hocks on the hind legs.
I'm going to have to try this! We are fighting with mallanders/sallanders and my mare seems to be chewing her feathers out now. No signs of mites or scratches, but definitely mallanders and sallanders.
If she is chewing I would treat with the Ivermectin pour on for mites, you'd never see them and they don't always show up on a skin scrape either.
Thanks, it can't hurt to do that! That's liquid ivermectin correct? How much should I use per leg?
