CT will put all that to rest with a 1st or 2nd place finish.

We like to look at horses sired by the likes of Curlin and AP Indy as the "run all day" types, both racing 12f once in their lives. If you look back through RR's first four generations, you'll find at least a dozen Grade or Group 1 12f races. I think that he'll not only run all day, but he won't take all day to do it either.

Well that's great, nothing would make me happier.  I already had my heart broken by Thunder Snow, Mendelssohn, Mutjaahib, Lani and Lines of Battle.    Then, I finally "get off them" and now we have one who might could bring it.   LOL

But part of my point is, as you say, these are 12f-13f horses in his background.  They don't run like the glorified 9Fers we have here. (that's not meant to be an insult)     Baffert isn't training his horses like 12F-ers.   Nobody does here.   I just think those 12F-ers need some ground to get going, by the time they get to that point there are 3 ahead of them who are used to the way we race here.  I keep trying to get that thru my skull after wagering 12F types in the KY Derby, which year after year seems to be my *downfall*.

Yay!!!!

I am already imagining The Belmont with Rock Your World, Rombauer, Rebel's Romance, Essential Quality and ........well, maybe Bourbonic, Hidden Agenda and OBesos.  Should be the best race of the whole TC.

Do you think Greatest Honour will run in it? I suppose not.  Shug must be gutted.  He kept saying "distance is his friend."  :(

Looks like Greatest Honour will be out for at least 2 months.I guess Shug is hoping to have him back for Saratoga

Hey, it’s their horse, but I think that’s a mistake. Essential Quality may be the one to break the Tapit Derby Jinx, but I don’t think so. Let’s see what Concert Tour does.

Thunder Snow and Mendelssohn didn’t get to run their races from the start. Lani and Muthaheeb were a bit too slow, IMO. I have not backed a Godolphin horse since Express Tour, who was woefully ill-prepared with one prep. This one I really like. I think he has just enough speed to stay close to those “glorified” 9f horses we usually run in the Derby. This breeding trend needs to get turned around, but it won’t until a horse like this wins the coveted roses! His breeding goes against the grain, which makes him a “Rebel”! Winning the Belmont will probably change nothing.

That makes a whole lotta sense, IMO.  Very well-suited for 12 furlongs.

Well that’s disappointing but Goldophin might run 1-2 in the Belmont with him and Proxy.

Hi-Ho Bet, hope all is well with you & yours.

I have always rooted for the UAE Derby winners, especially Thunder Snow & Mendelssohn.  I was also a Lani fan but knew he was a true head case.

I was as impressed as anyone by Rebel's Romance win.

I don't think Godolphin will ever admit it but even with a horse like Rebel's Romance, the drawbacks of arriving late, undergoing quarantine, possible feed issues, possible sleep issues, possible conditioning issues & possible temperament issues are imposing.

Bringing Essential Quality over at 2 & leaving him here to prep might speak to that.  To a lesser extent that might also have applied to the less prepared Prevalence.

Having said that, I would have enjoyed seeing Rebel's Romance try the KD because it would be very satisfying if he won doing it that way.

Yes, it wouldn't be a surprise to see an RR/Proxy exacta in the Belmont or vice versa.
