Looks like the race is shaping up to be a great betting race, with EQ the favorite, but I don't see him more than 3-1.  I love guessing the odds thread we compete in each year; I'll start that thread next week.

It seems like it will be hard to eliminate many, need to see how they train.....liking the Blue Grass contenders at this moment myself, curious about what others see at this point.

Another interesting factor will be who the jockeys choose.......Rosario, Johnny V., and Geroux all have multiple mounts.  Rosario has the most interesting choice....Concert Tour or Hot Rod?  I'm guessing Hot Rod...

And Geroux has 3 to choose from....Mandaloun, Caddo River, or Rombauer?  I have no idea..

Johnny V on Medina Spirit, or Soup and Sandwich......guessing S&S

The 3 key colts heading into Derby.. Essential Quality 1st and Hot Rod Charlie 2nd  in their 2 yr old 2020 BC juvey are the key contenders. Now 1-2 Derby points.

Ark Derby winner Super Stock with jockey Santana up..ran 3rd to EQ in G1 2 y old Keenland / Claiborne Breeders Futurity.

I'll go a parlay bet on this:

Soup N Sandwich trainer Mark Casse. Live Oak Plantation owner. Jock J Vee.

Johnny Vee goes to Medina Spirit...he is a first call rider for Pletcher and owner /East Coast Mike Repole for years.

Rosario it's Doug O'Neill or Bob Baffert.  Baffert will have many more now and future 'business' as they even say in horse racing.

Baff and Doug are not on or off the track compadres.

There are riding situations where a jock would have 2 calls, but usually is resolved where each trainer knows what horse the jockey should be on based on factors.

In a Derby past Johnny Vee did personally go against the grain and rode the 'other horse.

My best recollection was Jose Lezcano got ultimate 2014 Travers Winner V.E. Day to the party, but had relationships with parties he had that brought another runner into the Spa Derby race.  Castellano rode V.E. Day.

About 2 weeks before the AR Derby I was getting Pletcher vibes.  When I realized he didn't have any horses in the AR Derby,  I asked myself "maybe this is about the KY Derby?"

When I saw the pedigree for Sainthood, with  Sadler's Wells, Thunder Gulch and Mshawish on top, and Seattle Slew, Kingmambo, and Lemon Drop Kid on bottom, I pulled up his de-boarding:
This one is an absolute beauty, arriving at Churchill:

Of course Bourbonic looks like a million bucks, too

Soup and Sandwich needs to eat up, he has 3 weeks to gain some weight back---- not looking too good here:

Check out Helium's powerful neck / chest muscles when he's standing in his barn:

Essential Quality, deboarding, also looks good and um, rather vocal in his barn:

Worth a bet at 100-1 but will they ship him over?

100-1?   Those types don't win here though.
Just like our horses run 12th and worse when they go over there and try to run against horses like Panadol and Rebel's Romance.

I think I read somewhere that one of the horses is somehow related to Curlin but I can’t remember who. Even looks like Curlin. Does anyone know who it is?
