How soon before Ellis Park ends up as the next Hollywood, Calder, Arlington... same owner same game plan. Build the casino offsite then sell the track to developers. We've seen this movie before...

CDI is all about the bottom line.   Period.  If CDI believed in racing it would have kept, at the least, Hollywood and Arlington.  Having been to Calder more than a few times, I'm not sure anyone misses that place.

Hialeah, on the other hand, was a magnificent race place.

Let's see how much they improve the Ellis plant, including backside, and surface.  Compare that to how they improve the offsite gambling nest and there's your answer.

Ellis is a lot closer to Churchill Downs than Arlington is, and we saw what they did to Arlington. Same script.

You can bet if Churchill managed to get their hands on Kentucky Downs they'd expand that casino and not bother racing there anymore.

I agree, Tex.  Sadly.

I wear my Hialeah baseball cap quite frequently to Oaklawn.    it's pretty worn out now though.

Lots of casinos just across the bridge in Indiana.

Without the track their casino won't do as much business
