TY for posting this.  I feel tearful but 29 is a good age and everyone at OP has gotten years of enjoyment from this guy.  

 CHINDI,and horses like Lava Man, who become stable ponies so that we can continue to enjoy their presence, is something we need to see more of.  

Yes, I thought of you , my friend, when I first heard the news.  Chindi was a great ambassador for Oaklawn.  

Kudos to Steve Hobby, as well, for understanding what made Chindi tick both as a race horse and after his retirement, keeping him where he preferred to be and, man, looking like a million bucks even when he was an old man of a horse.

Hobby is one of the old timers himself.   I really miss a lot of them like Van Berg, the senior Holthus, etc.
