So not only does he call races he's also a trainer.  So he got hurt bad in a training accident and is hoping to get back to the booth soon.

Wow... could you see Larry Collmus or Tom Durkin (who was actually allergic to horses!) do that?  Maybe Trevor Denman who was originally a jockey in South Africa.

Seen many trainers and jockeys trying to come back from those kind of injuries.....slow going.  Larry Jones is still limping pretty bad when you see him out on at Oaklawn. 

But yes, an announcer who is also a horseman, truly unusual.  best wishes for him in his recovery!
