Just figured we needed to start a thread for the mid summer derby. Small but nice field. Looking it over before I commit.

I got the race shape figured as National Treasure and Scotland on the lead, Forte on rail behind them and the rest of the field in a Congo line in the 2 path.

My first thought is National Treasure wiring the field. Johnny V doing a repeat of the Preakness and stretching it another 1/16. Would love a speed dual and see where Disarm ends up.

At SAR they always seem to be jockey races won by same jockeys with aggressive rides.  They will have it "souped up" and fast of course.  I prefer races at BEL on what I consider "true unadulterated dirt".

One thing for sure, they can't afford any injuries.

THe odds will probably look awful though?

No offense, but every Talking Head on the internet has that part figured out.

What is interesting is when the horses DON'T run like a foregone conclusion.  That is about the only thing that makes a race like this truly exciting.    I love when that happens.

Need one who can run like this one, if any of you remember KIRI'S CLOWN?  This was a really neat horse!

Talk about controlling speed and perfect "breaks like a bullet" gate horse: 1995 Sword Dancer Invitational
Wired the field.

Then, a year later, 1996 Broadway Flyer rallies to beat him by over 5 lengths----my definition of an exciting race, knowing Kiri Clown's reputation at the time:

Luis Saez sustained collar bone injury Wednesday, no surgery and sadly mount died of heart attack.

Off mounts now and Derby winner Mage in Travers.

Flavin Prat would be a good call. IMO he is tops at the 10 panepanels.iònote:

HOOFNOTE:  Scotland went wire-to-wire in the nine-furlong Curlin Stakes at Saratoga on July 21, beating Blazing Sevens, BS was second behind National Treasure, beaten a head, in the Preakness, while beating Mage.

Scotland was wound down final yards and ran 148/ticks.At The Spa.

Scotty...Best out of the gate in Travers from outside, should be 3rd or fourth, pass Johnny Vee trying to wire his mount at 7fl.

 Wet track or not.

National  Treasure won maiden, and wired Preakness (nearly 113 for 6) and Travers should go at 111+ ticks.

Save a sav situation N T no hit the boardski.
