to Claiborne Farms, July 1950. What a bad boy! Known to be a holy terror. You can almost feel the heartbeats of the workers as they unload him...
The footage with the trailers of that day is so interesting. The orange horse trailer, etc.
At the end, seeing him run around in the pasture.
I was going thru my archives of saves and found this, one for the ages. I had a folder marked THe Bad Boys of Racing. I wish I could find video of Drone. He was apparently the absolute worst.

I remember that footage, too. Glad you posted it because I also lost it.
Black MInnaloushe had everyone who worked at Ashford, all experienced to the nth degree, on high alert because he was known to suddenly attempt to savage his human handlers and he succeeded several times. Went from Kentucky to New Zealand to South Africa with a rap sheet.
Dynaformer. Only allowed his groom near him. I saw him from afar at Three Chimneys.
Danzig. Ultra dangerous. We were kept two fences away from him and he was giving us the malocchio the entire time. Only had one eye at that point in his life, as well.

I bet Medina Spirit in the derby because he had that line in his breeding. I didn’t collect because I didn’t fill out the exacta ad tri. After watching the Santa Anita and his earlier races he finished second or third every time. I just felt the pace of 1 1/8 mile and 1 1/16 mile were to fast for him and the distance was to short for the others to come back to him. I felt like he was perfect for 1 1/4 mile. Whenever I see Hail to Reason Roberto and Dynaformer I pay attention.

I saw him there too -- one of the bars of his stall was bent outward from where he kicked it...

Still shows up in some pedigrees that enter the Melbourne Cup.
They called him a "hired assassin" because he would mercilessly stalk his competition, then ..... BIG POUNCE!
Son of Storm Cat, I believe at one time he commanded the highest stud fee of any horse in the world. Murtagh did a good job riding him

I really enjoy these kinds of threads. It adds a dimension to the horses. I end up going to research mode which I always find fascinating.
Thanks, WT.
