The million dollar 10f. Pac. Classic is Sat. at Del Mar.....it's been nearly 10 years since a 3 yr. old won that race (Shared Belief), and he was undefeated when he was entered. Yet it's a full field this year, very unusual at DM, and there are three 3 yr. olds.....Arabian Knight, Skinner, and Geaux Rocket Ride.  Sadler has won this race 4 out of the last 5 yrs., with Beta Bob winning the other one.  It's hard to see Sadler's 6 yr. old, Tripoli, winning here, but Baffert's colt is live, imho.  I'll probably do a box with just the 3 yr. olds for a tri and exacta.  And then I'll do one without any of them, keying on Slow Down Andy and Defunded.  I think Andy needed the last one, and could be peaking here.

I just bought this card. Every race is full and I’m sure I can find a few I like other than this one. I’m not home so I don’t have my desktop to look at everything. Looking at race shape Rocket had a horse doing the dirty work for him in the Haskell. There was a horse that went with Arabian Lion early softening him up for Rocket in the stretch. I don’t see a horse wanting to go with Lion in this field. So Rocket might have to pressure Lion early, setting it up for Skinner or someone else in the stretch.

might be because of the time of the year scared off by a 4 or 5 yr old like last year Flightline won with 6 starters
is this years older entrants scary like some years field of 10, 3 three yr olds.Tripoli will be tryng to win it for the 2nd time
only 3 have done that and he is trying to be the first to win 2 not back to back. 2021 winner.
The Last 10 runnings the winner has been on the lead or within 2 lengths ot the lead at the Mile Marker.
how many fit that description this year. we will see if its a good angle.

10th Race- Del Mar - Saturday, September 2nd, 2023

I like Skinner's August workouts.  He's not a win machine, that is clear, but he is coming into the Pac Classic as a live price horse.  If he's going to notch a win, it could be here, coming off the pace with a solid run.

Reasonable overlay, IMO.

I also think the price will hold or drift up.

Geaux Rocket Ride and Arabian Knight only 2 that haven't raced at Del Mar
5 of those that raced at Del Mar have never won at Del Mar.. Is there a horse for the course?

numbers 1,6,7,9,11 first time going 10 f. Challenging Race.

Highest bris number at the distance 6 year old Tripoli** with 26 races his 108 was before June of 22

didn't make the pp's. highest in his last 10 races 98 in his last race g2 8.5 f and he was coming

last 1/16. ** won this race in 2021.

First time through a sneaky one that sticks out is Katonah. He has a 1:12 bullet gate work on the 27th. O’Neill comes from the claiming ranks. I remember he likes to gallop them hard and he sneaks a 4 or 5 12 second furlongs into the gallop. Which would explain the month between his July 23 work to August 19 work. 5 out of 7 races this year he’s beaten the variant rather handily. Hopefully smarty will post them. I’m going to have to dive in into the other races on those days to see what’s going on. He’s at least a good trifecta bet. I’ll probably box it in the off hand he finishes 1st or 2nd. The payout is worth the chances racing luck smiles on him. I like Rocket, I don’t see him falling out of the tri… Skinner and Katonah

With Katonah exactas and trifectas will be boxed. If that’s the way I go. 

I just gave a quick eyeball to the BRIS pps for the race and without crunching any numbers, it looks like there will be some pace pressure and contention in the early going.  

I like Geaux Rocket Ride, too, but as a win bettor, I won't touch him tomorrow.  He's an underlay.  

The more I look at this race, the less I like it.

2 strong races at a mile in allowance company at SA for Katonah. 2 lengths faster than grade 2 7furs 5/27 and 1 length off 3 year best 4/9 He's looking like a strong contender with possible 15 to 1 He's grade1 quality at a mile. I'm guessing he galloped for a month then the timed 5 furs 8/19 and the bullet gate work 8/27 he answers the stamina question at better than 10 to 1.... Both allowances were strong fields at a top track. He's been training and racing without a hiccup since last October. LOL 400$ for a donation from his pap but granpap is  Quality Road. I think there's a chance that breeding fee goes up in the future.

Watch his last race in that 1 mile stakes. he moved forward earning this chance at the best
