Obviously the Kentucky Derby is a very difficult race to win, to say the least. With so many defections this year, it just might be a newcomer jockey that rises to the top or someone that’s had only few Derby mounts.

Hard not to pay attention to Saez and Ortiz, Jr. They’ve been winning like crazy. Rosario just hasn’t been one of my favorites.

Because Rosario goes after good 2 yr olds late (# purses to)  and 3 yr olds for Derby entrance...he is not....no matter what... committed to any.

Accordingly he does not end up on Derby entries he rode to get them to the Prom.

I don’t like people like that.

It's a living. These guys like Ortiz bros, Castellano, Rosario are family people. They have children and the rest you know. Often Momzie in the picture like Ortiz bros.

Career can end with injury at any time. Physical longevity difficult.

An ambulance follows 'you around when you work.

Jocks are paid a ride fee per entry.

But not paid travel etc

And only paid for % fees of in the money.

Ahhh.....shades of past derbies!!! Brings back memories of 'ol Calvin Borail and his 3 derby wins in 4 years.

Never was the same after his run in at the Breeders Cup. Got into a spat with i forget. Seemed to have lost it after that.
