I think there is a mistake in the Talk City Chat forum category list of the Delphi Forums Index.

I have  been trying hard to build my forum, 40+ Friends, and make a good showing on that list. But I am frustrated by always being listed below rooms that have many fewer vistors and fewer posts.  I am listed even below a room that doesn't  "exist" any more. I  am  directly below a room that closed its  chat room totally,  years ago, and has  no more  posts, and sometimes one visitor.

How can my somewhat thriving room be lower than a totally non-functioning room? Can they review  the list, please?

*Edit to add, as of 9:30pm,  58 active vs 1 active. How is  1 active  rated better? 

It's not the current actives, the position is mostly determined by the pageviews you see in Reports (only DelphiPlus Hosts see that.)

You're up there in the list and people will see where it's hopping at the moment!

How can there be a lot of "pageviews" in the room on top of mine?  It is a "closed" room, with no posting going on.  And today  there are actually 3 people  who went there. That is a LOT for that place. Three.  Three people  are  doing all those pageviews  of  no posts?  

I guess I need to  post  more. 

The 3 were in the last 24 hours. Seems earlier this week there was some heavy activity.

Guest views likely also counts in the "algorithm"

I couldn't see that a years-ago deserted forum where there is no chat room, where there is no posting, and that daily has just 1 visitor (and one day that I mentioned I saw  3 visitors  that day!) how  they  were  higher on the list than engaged forums WITH chatrooms and WITH on-going postings, and MANY vistors. 

I thought it was a mistake. That is why I brought it up. 

And now, that deserted forum has  been moved down in the list, which was the proper thing to do.  I still have misgivings about where I see other rooms listed. I hope things are really being looked at carefully.

I found the Pageview Report for my forum.  It says, " The following table shows the number of pages viewed in the current forum. " Question: What is a page? 

I still do not understand how the forum ahead of me, that has no posting EVER, (= ZERO) and has far fewer visitors to the room, is  having anyone view anything more than in my room. It can't be something like "there was a lot of activity earlier in the week" because I have been watching this for a couple  MONTHS. The difference is  staggering. Right now I am looking at my 93 active -vs- their 22 active and their  zero posts , as always. Who views zero posts?

Question: What constitutes a "view of a page"?  

Is it a visit to the start page? Is it a visit to a message  on the message board? Is it a visit in the chat room? 

(I am  hoping that Delphi is checking  carefully still.  I  am  working  on this,  but  am  beginning  to feel like  I should  just give  up.  Last  year I  finally  gave up  and  quit  because  my  numbers  seemed  so  high  but  the  room stayed  below.  At least  now I  am  not  listed down with the rooms that have zero visitors  or  2 visitors.   Gives  me  hope.) 

Pageviews happen each time someone loads a new message or page,  including Chat and Guests.

If someone posts 20 messages and one person reads them, that's not as good as someone posting only 1 message and 20 people read that one message.  The latter means more traffic and ad views.

It could be old messages being loaded or Guests dropping by. Current posts and Active means logged-in members visiting today, it doesn’t show total activity.

Me again.

I found the Pageview Report. I see where Delphi staff came and  viewed,  and  then  my room was  moved up.
The last time they checked was  Aug 11.
Since then there has been 6,393 more Page Views. and  no Delphi Staff  has  viewed them in those 16 days.
 
Question: Would  they get mad , do you think, if I was  wanting to be looked  at again?
 
Since  in the  corresponding time  before that there were only 5,326  views,  which back then was 1,050 fewer than the  same  time frame  with 6,393! 

That means I have a 20% increase in views  this 2 weeks! And the room ahead of me hasn't had any post made since one post in June and  one in July.  

Would Delphi be mad? If I asked to be checked again? What is  your opinion? 

IF  you  think  it  is  ok  to ask...   given  I  have such a  marked  change the  past  couple  weeks,   then  ask.

Otherwise,  tell me  how  it  is...   maybe  this  is  a  monthly  thing  - or  whatever,  and  I should  wait,  because  it  will  be  forthcoming  soon  enough.
