This thread will present some articles from around the web to better explain IgA Nephropathy and how it affects patients.

To briefly summarize, IgA Nephropathy is an autoimmune disease where the bodies immune system attacks itself. As a result of this, IgA (immunoglobulin A) builds up in the kidney causing deterioration over time. The articles in this thread do a much better job explaining this than I can.

Do you have this disease or know anyone who does?

Probably one of the better sites describing IgAN  so far:

IgA Nephropathy: One Disease or Many?

This is an article from the same people managing the Stop-IgAN trials where they discuss the idea that IgA Nephropathy could really be the culmination of several diseases versus just one.

It's very informative but I'll be the first to admin a lot of the material flies waaay over my  head and is probably geared more towards medical professionals. That said, what I could glean from it was pretty interesting. While research  is ongoing, IgAN is a tough disease to find new information on.
