On Feb. 19th I posted that Gone With the Wind was available through Libby but I sent it on to the next person. I thought at the end of the 2-week period it would become available again. However, it didn't appear again until Mar. 12th. I went ahead and took it even though I knew I had about 2 more days before I would finish the book I was on.
Now here's something strange. The book is only 523 pages and I know for a fact that GWTW is over 1,000 pages. I went to Amazon and checked out their Kindle versions and each one of those is only 500+ pages. So I went ahead and started reading the version from Libby. I think that maybe when the book was "transferred" to an ebook (not certain if that's the right term) it did something odd with how much is on a page. Normally for me, it takes 2-3 screens on my Kindle to complete a page. Of course, this is going to vary for everyone based on the size of the font, spacing, etc. I've occasionally run into a book where it was 4-5 screens per page. But with this version of GWTW it's taking at least 7 and sometimes 8 screens per page. So based on that I feel like this is the full version of the book.
I thought I would be able to finish GWTW in 2 weeks. However, life interfered and I was only a little over halfway through when it was due back and today was to be the last day. Yesterday I tried to renew it but couldn't since there are others waiting on it and so I went to the end of the wait list. I got an email earlier today from Libby -

The thing is I was in the middle of a chapter when I had stopped reading late last night. But I thought that's okay because it's supposed to be where I ended it when I get it again. Then a little later I opened up my Kindle to start the book I had already chosen to be my next one. I was really shocked to see that GWTW was still on my Kindle. I check Libby again it says it's been returned and Amazon says the same thing. However, the download is still on my Kindle. Needless to say, I'm very happy with that. So I can go ahead and finish it and not have to wait to borrow it again. That works for me!

That happened to me one time. I think it happened because I did not close out of the book, but I can’t be certain. All I know is I was able to finish the book even though it was no longer checked out to me. It also didn’t automatically renew.

I'm definitely glad it happened that way. When I tried to renew it, it put me at the bottom of the list of 24 people. With only 2 copies available, that means it could be as much as 12 weeks before I would be able to get it again.

Well, it's been a minute again.
This past kindle challenge had an achievement for women's history but a very small list of books that would count. Most were non-fiction as well, which is difficult for me to get into. I picked the one fiction that I thought I could handle but nope, couldn't hold my attention. Circe, the author escapes me at the moment.
Good news, the perfect month achievement finally counted for the first time.
I'm almost feeling burnt out on reading. Maybe it's the quality offered by kindle unlimited? I recently read a couple with multiple typos. I've also tried some popular titles but they ended up in the DNF pile. Maybe it's time to run through the books I actually own?
Side note: I have an offer for a free ebook, with a very limited list to choose from and one of the books offered is Kathy Reichs. Which is amusing because I'm currently going through Bones again! I haven't read her books yet, so hey, maybe I should see if the library has them.

I've seen that "Circe" book on sale but it just never appealed to me.
I've read all but the last two books in Reichs' Temperance Brennan series. I think I've stated this here before - the character in the books and the character in the TV series are, in my opinion, two different characters. I definitely like the book's character much better. I highly recommend the books.
I finally finished Gone With the Wind late Friday night. There was a lot in that book that I'd forgotten about since first reading it. But that was over 50 years ago. Now I'd like to watch the movie again.
Finishing GWTW gave me 7 books I read in March. That was pretty good considering how long it took me to read that one.
Right now I'm reading the non-fiction After Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. I read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil several years ago and thought this would enhance it. So far, so good. This is another Libby book. I also have waiting for me through Libby Where the Crawdads Sing. So that's next up.
ETA: I meant to add that all of the other books I have on hold with Libby show "several months" before they will be available. That's good because I need to get back to the other books I already have on my Kindle.

It's one of the rare times I haven't read something before watching a series or movie based on the works. So it will be interesting to see the reverse. My library has the series but there's a wait list for the first book. The ebook that I can get for free is #12.
Do you like Libby? I've been debating downloading it. Also, I tried to log into hoopla the other day but I forgot where I wrote the password down and had trouble with the link on my tablet. So I was like, I'll worry about it when I'm on the PC. haha
I think I have 5 or 6 loans waiting but I keep searching for other things to read. A case of I wanted to read it when I put the hold on it, but now that it's here I'm not in the mood! I have the third in the Finlay Donovan series, so I'm thinking that will be next.

I've had that happen with a few series. Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli and Isles series is the first one that comes to mind. I had no idea that the Rizzoli & Isles TV series on TNT was based on a book series. There were 7 seasons in the TV series and I had seen the entire series before I found out about the books. There were some differences in the characters but nothing so drastic that it bothers me.
I really like Libby. I can't get everything I want and there are some long wait times, but that's okay with me. I've been able to get some books that I'd been waiting for years to be at a decent price. There are some odd things such as a book may have a wait time of "6 weeks" and then suddenly it's available. Also, there are some where it seems like the wait time and your position on that wait list never update. So far I've borrowed and read 20 books. That doesn't include the two I currently have and I'm in the process of reading. That's in less than 6 months ... first book borrowed was Oct. 22 last year.
I tried hoopla before Libby and wasn't impressed. I haven't looked at it since getting the Libby ap.

This article came today from ReviewGeek about Kindle Unlimited. Thought I would share with you book readers. I still read actual books.

If I may bug you about libby again, is it the same books that your library has available or are there slightly different choices?
I read Deja Dead. It was a little slow in the beginning but got better. #2 just became available, so that's probably next. Definitely different from Bones but I expected it so I feel like I wasn't disappointed like some seemed to be.
I also finally finished a book that I wasn't into but unfortunately bought. Bright side is it was probably 99 cents.
A book I've been waiting for was released a couple of weeks ago. So if there was a sale price to go with it, I missed out. They've really raised prices. $17.99 for paperback. I'm debating if I should just request it from the library. They've only ever had the first 3 books in the series.
