Oohh.. hockey. Now you have my attention!

Surprisingly, I haven't read much hockey non-fiction.

I took a page out of your book and passed on a hold. I'm still working on the same book. Ha. I think I have a few others that are gonna expire soon. Oops! Guess I need to spend some quality time with the current read so I can get to the others.

I'm born and raised in Kentucky where basketball is king. I'm also a huge baseball fan. I recall as a kid sitting in the family room on Saturdays watching the St. Louis Cardinals on TV listening to PeeWee Reese and Dizzy Dean. No ice hockey here. But I still enjoy reading books about exceptional sports events no matter what the sport.

My friend Tammy27 here in the forum is from Minnesota - ice hockey country if ever there was one. I sent her a PM the other day about the book. Here's part of what I said.

It's broken into 3 sections - one for each period in the game. You're going to laugh at me - I had no idea hockey had 3 periods. Really?? Three??? Not two or four??? Obviously, I've never watched any hockey on TV. Anytime I have seen bits of hockey on TV - this was probably when I was married and my husband was channel surfing and happened to stop on a hockey game for a few minutes - it just looked like a free-for-all. But reading this book has been very interesting to learn there really is a method to all that madness on the ice. LOL

Seriously, I had no idea there were 3 periods in an ice hockey game. Blue line?? Red line?? I was able to figure those out easily.

Yep, that is a typical Wild/Vancouver game.................LOL!!

I somehow managed to teach myself the rules and the signals for penalties, etc. haha. Back in the day of the two line pass. Also, my teen years.

I forgot to mention about the shoes.. I guess it's a good thing I'm not really into them but shopping as a whole isn't a fun experience for me. It's so irritating that you can pretty much guarantee that size 11s will have the huge heels and flats usually stop at size 10, especially the ones I like.

And to bring it back to books, I made the mistake of clearing out emails and opened one from one of the book publishers. Just added 4 books to look for that the library doesn't have! Yay me! haha

I just finished The Bone Code - book 20 in Kathy Reichs' Temperance Brennan series. Of course, I've been reading this series for years. I already have book 21 - Cold, Cold Bones. Book 22 just came out last month and I have that on hold in Libby. Something like 26 weeks and 13th in line. I just want to make certain I'm all caught up when book 22 becomes available.

So now I'm moving on to my next Libby book - My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrik Backman. He's the author who wrote A Man Called Ove. I read that book because Tom Hanks was starring in the movie A Man Called Otto (they made the name more American - good grief!). I really liked the book and decided I wanted to read some more by that author.

Right now I have two Libby books that I passed on to the next reader and entered dates for when I would be ready. One is Sept. 13 and the other is Sept. 20. If I spend enough time reading, I should be able to get one more book that I already have on my Kindle during that week between the Libby books. Except for the book due Sept. 20, none of these books are very long. Just 300-400 pages. The one due on Sept. 20 is 500 pages. Other than those two books, the next Libby book is supposed to be available for 10 more weeks. We'll see how that goes.

Still working on Cross Bones. It expires in 18 hours. I think I could renew but I'm gonna try not to.

Super bummed because I missed putting the latest JD Robb on hold, so now I'm #74. On one copy. Here's to hoping your libby magic happens with this one!

Just finished reading The Other Passenger by Louise Candlish and am now reading Our House on Libby.

She is a London mystery author and her books have so many twists and turns, they are hard to put down!

I'm really enjoying these quick reads and she has quite a few more.

I can understand that because, if I'm not mistaken, you've been reading that series one book after another. I love that series but I have to break it up. I usually try to read something lighter after reading a few suspense, mystery books. Then I'm ready to go back to read a few more of the heavier suspense, mystery books. That's why I'm so glad I found Fredrik Backman's books. They're not too serious and just a little on the amusing side.

Annikabelle, I went to Amazon to read about those two books and they both sound really good.

I checked Libby and they both look like they would be available very soon. The problem with that is I'm getting too many books available at the same time in Libby. So I "tagged" them with my "Found" tag which I created to keep track of books I found but I'm not quite ready for them.

Thanks for the suggestions.

You are welcome.  I hope you enjoy them!  She has quite a few that I plan to read.

You have been lucky with Libby.  Good for you!
