Change Your Password Day (Feb 1) - In 2012, Matt Buchanan, who at the time was writing for Gizmodo, came up with Change Your Password Day, a day for making it harder for would-be-hackers to get into accounts. He wrote about how there was a proliferation of accounts on the internet that used passwords and lamented that he had twice experienced an account getting hacked. He thought it would be a good idea if everyone changed their passwords together on the same day, and Change Your Password Day was born. He suggested upping password security by adding some symbols to new passwords and by using different root passwords for banking and email from everything else.

Get a Different Name Day (Feb 13) - Get a Different Name Day is dedicated to all those who hate their birth names. According to the creators of the day, "On this day we may change our names to whatever we wish and have the right to expect colleagues, family and friends to so address us." It appears to be a tongue-in-cheek holiday where people aren't necessarily making their name changes legally. Although today's holiday is for those who change their name because they dislike it, there are many other reasons why people make a switch.

My favorite different name is the one Karen Walker used as her alias on Will & Grace. I used to use it when I went on Union trips..................

Jump for Jelly Beans Day (July 31) - These tiny candies evolved from an ancient confection called “Turkish delight,” which was one of the earliest forms of hard candy. Our modern-day jelly beans gained popularity during the American Civil War. A candy company in Boston began marketing jelly beans as the perfect treat to send to soldiers, and soon everyone was hooked. One of the most famous jelly bean fans is President Ronald Reagan. He served them at his inauguration!
