Individual All Around (is an artistic gymnastics event held at the Summer Olympics. The event was first held for men at the second modern Olympics in 1900, and has been held every Games since. The women's competition was added in 1952. The all-around title combines the scores of all four apparatus for women – vault, bars, beam and floor – and all six for men – floor, pommel horse, vault, rings, parallel bars and high bar to determine the winner)
The men's apparatus............
The defending Olympic Gold Medalist is Japan's Kohei Uchimura..................
The women's apparatus.......................
The defending Olympic Gold Medalist is United States' Simone Biles................
Neither will be defending their gold medals in Tokyo...........................
Kohei had qualified for the 2020 Olympics as an apparatus specialist on the horizontal bar after a tiebreak in the selection process worked in his favor. He has expressed earlier that he could still contribute positively to the Japanese team but perhaps not with the kind of grueling physical requirements that are necessary for an all-around anymore.
Simone withdrew herself from the individual all around (which will be held tomorrow) yesterday. She had withdrawn from the team competition earlier in the week citing mental health issues.
Calling it a night........................
Jessica Fox - Australia - Canoe Slalom
Olympic medalist in 2012 and Rio 2016, and doing one of my best runs at the Pau world championships in 2017. 2014 world championships in Deep Creek. Winning the double world title was an incredible achievement for me.
Jessica won a Gold Medal today in the Canoe Slalom, first time this event has been held at the Olympics....................
Update to my most recent post.....................
Suni Lee, from St Paul, MN, won the Gold Medal in the Women's Individual All Around today.........
"Karch" Kiraly (Charles Frederick "Karch" Kiraly is an American volleyball player, coach and broadcast announcer. In the 1980s he was a central part of the U.S National Team that won gold medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games. He went on to win the gold medal again at the 1996 Olympic Games, the first Olympic competition to feature beach volleyball. He is the only player to have won Olympic gold medals in both the indoor and beach volleyball categories. He played college volleyball for the UCLA Bruins, where his teams won three national championships under head coach Al Scates)
You can see "Karch" in Tokyo as he is the coach of the US Women's Volleyball Team......................

COOL!! I saw a bit that NBC News did on her earlier this week. She seems like a remarkable young lady.
Suni Lee (see previous post for more details)
Mountain Biking (is the competitive cycle sport discipline of mountain biking held on off-road terrain. In 1996, cross-country mountain biking events were added to the Olympic Games)
Tokyo 2020 Gold Medal winner in the men's event was Tom Pidcock of Great Britian...................
Nathan Adrian - is an American competitive swimmer and five-time Olympic gold medalist who formerly held the American record in the long course 50-meter freestyle event. In his Olympic debut at the 2008 Summer Olympics, Adrian swam in the heats of the 4×100-meter freestyle relay and earned a gold medal when the United States team won in the final. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Adrian won gold medals in both the 100-meter freestyle and the 4×100-meter medley relay, and a silver medal in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay. He has won thirty-two medals in major international competitions; twenty gold, seven silver, and five bronze in such competitions as the Summer Olympics, the FINA World Aquatics Championships, and the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships. In the 2016 Summer Olympics 4x100-meter freestyle relay a gold was won with Michael Phelps, Caeleb Dressel, and Ryan Held. He was an individual bronze medalist in the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyles. In January 2019, Adrian was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He had two surgeries, returning to competition in May 2019. Adrian entered to swim two individual events at the 2020 US Olympic Trials (postponed to June 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), the 100-meter freestyle and 50-meter freestyle. However, he failed to qualify and did not go to Tokyo.
Obstacle Course Swimming (The men's 200 metre obstacle event was an obstacle swimming event in the 1900 Summer Olympics held in Paris. It was held on 11 August and 12 August 1900. Twelve swimmers from five nations competed. This was the only appearance of obstacle swimming at the Olympics. There were three obstacles throughout the 200 metre course. Swimmers had to climb over the first two (a pole and a row of boats), and swim under the third (another row of boats))
Hard to see but this is the swimmers climbing over a boat................
The event was won by Frederick Lane of Australia, with Otto Wahle of Austria second and Peter Kemp of Great Britain third. Lane had already won the 200 metre freestyle (with no obstacles).
