Got my 1st Moderna shot today.  It went so smoothly, no line, no wait.  Got it at the grocery store, did have an appointment.  Never even felt the needle go in!  Hopefully no side effects tomorrow.  Roll up your sleeves everyone!  And til we are all safe, wear a mask!  mask

All,

I guess I should add my name to the list and keep the trend going!  While I'm much younger than any of the age cut-offs, my state classifies educators, including those in higher education, as essential workers.  I got my first shot of Pfizer last Saturday, and just had a sore arm for about a day and a half.

My sister (librarian) and my brother-in-law (IT/tech) also qualify and will be getting their first shots on Saturday.  Once they get their second shot, everyone in my family will be vaccinated except three younger cousins and my partner.  He's only in his early fifties, has no health concerns and doesn't fit the essential worker category no matter how much you stretch it.  As of now, they're guessing that the spots for general 50-and-overs in my state won't be open until early May at best.  I won't rest completely easy until he gets his, but I do feel a little better already.

                                                                                                                                                      Astra

I'm so happy to read all these announcements of vaccinations.

It will be quite a while for me, but we're in a great place - so I'm not concerned.

Dad and I got our 1st Moderna Vax yesterday.  Dad has NO side effects so far.  Next shots April 8th.

I. however, have slight injection site soreness. very slight swelling and a little warm.  NOT red/rashy, so not full throttle Moderna Covid Arm (which apparently affects women waaay more than men)  NO fever, chills, headache either.  Maybe I'll get a pass on that.

Also NOT going to take NSAIDS (they inhibit the prostaglandins needed to create the immune response)

This article in informative and kinda funny:

Hi,

I’ve just read your post. Sorry I haven’t seen it until now. Been busy.
What you say about your new cat is heart and soul warming. It seems it is meant to be, that Jingle Bells has found you to care for him. Albert maybe had a hand in introducing you both, from his place amongst the stars sparkles

Hugs, Tracy cat

My husband and I had our vax 3 weeks ago.  He’s older than I am, so we couldn’t schedule for the same clinic, but I had the Pfizer, he had the Moderna.  His arm swelled up and was a bit painful for the first day or so, possibly owing to the advice I get and give about shots “move your arm around a lot,”. I don’t know, but it works for me.

In any case, putting ice on his arm helped a great deal.

I had my Pfizer 2nd dose yesterday, and no problem so far.  Injection site a little sore today for the first time, but otherwise feeling fine.

We’re a couple of old f*rts, and I think we’ll be OK.  Hope all of you are, too.  We have so much to look forward to if we can conquer this accursed virus.
