Rosca de Reyes (is a Spanish and Latin American king's cake pastry traditionally eaten to celebrate Epiphany. Although the name indicates that it should be round, the rosca de reyes generally has an oval shape due to the need to make cakes larger than 30 cm across for larger parties. Recipes vary from country to country. For decoration, figs, quinces, cherries or dried and candied fruits are used. It is traditionally eaten on January 6, during the celebration of the Día de Reyes, which commemorates the arrival of the three Magi or Wise Men. In most of Spain, Spanish America, and sometimes, Hispanic communities in the United States, this is the day when children traditionally get presents, which are attributed to the Three Wise Men. In Mexico before children go to bed, they leave their shoes outside filled with hay or dried grass for the animals the Wise Men ride, along with a note. The tradition of placing a trinket in the cake is very old. The baby Jesus hidden in the bread represents the flight of the Holy Family, fleeing from King Herod's Massacre of the Innocents)

Trisha Yearwood's Christmas in a Cup (Trisha’s recipe for the ultimate holiday cocktail is a snap to make thanks to this signature mix – a vibrant combination of ruby red pomegranate and cranberry juices blended with tangerine and lime. Simply add vodka or another favorite spirit, from gin or sparkling wine to bubbly water, for a refreshing winter cocktail)

Vrolijk Kerstfeest! (Merry Christmas in Dutch) - Dutch tradition says that Sinterklaas (or Sint-Nicolaas) lives in Spain and every year, on the 5th of December (St. Nicholas’ Eve), he arrives in a different harbor in The Netherlands so as many children as possible get a chance to see him. But Dutch Christmas celebrations are separate from the visit of Sinterklaas. On Christmas Eve, Kerstman (“Christmas Man”) comes from Lapland to bring even more presents (Dutch kids are the luckiest!). Then, on Christmas Day, the celebration continues with a Church Service and family meal.

White House Christmas Tree (also known as the Blue Room Christmas Tree, is the official indoor Christmas tree at the residence of the president of the United States, the White House. The first indoor Christmas tree was installed in the White House sometime in the 19th century (there are varying claims as to the exact year) and since 1961 the tree has had a themed motif at the discretion of the First Lady of the United States)

Obama's 2009 tree................"We took about 800 ornaments left over from previous administrations, we sent them to 60 local community groups throughout the country, and asked them to decorate them to pay tribute to a favorite local landmark and then send them back to us for display here at the White House."----Michelle Obama

Kennedy's 1962 tree...................

The modest 1963 Blue Room Christmas Tree is seen inside the White House on Monday December 23, 1963. As the nation mourned their fallen president, LBJ had to carefully navigate that grief as the country also celebrated Christmas scarcely a month later...........................

Xmas - is a common abbreviation of the word Christmas. It is sometimes pronounced /'?ksm?s/, but Xmas, and variants such as Xtemass, originated as handwriting abbreviations for the typical pronunciation /'kr?sm?s/. The "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Christós (Greek: Χριστ?ς), which became Christ in English. The suffix -mas is from the Latin-derived Old English word for Mass. There is a common misconception that the word Xmas stems from a secular attempt to remove the religious tradition from Christmas by taking the "Christ" out of "Christmas", but its use dates back to the 16th century.

"Xmas" used on a Christmas postcard, 1910
