I'm half way thru this book.  I stalled.  It's probably me, not the book.

Why would you blame yourself rather than the book?  Some books get you bogged down when the author is trying to do too much.  I'm reading one now in which I think the author is trying to do too much, so the narrative is convoluted.  There's too many characters and no Dramatis Personae to help the reader.  And the prose is pretty turgid.

Could be the repetitious theme.

"There's too many characters"

That is why Agatha Christie is hard to listen too while driving.

I probably have at least 500 in my 'To Read' list. Some are books I already have others are on my list to get from the library, and since I will never finish what it already on my list before I add new ones I will never run out of things I want to read! My favorite genre is sci-fi/fantasy but my list includes all kinds.

Our local library is constantly discarding books.  My wife scours that bin.  I've gotten some books from it, but, it must frustrate our librarians.  After I'm done reading it, I put it in the Book Return window.  I'm not keeping it.  I don't keep books any more.

The Friends of the Library have book sales with donated books and discards.   We provide a lot of funding for programs for the county libraries.

Great. Love hearing about things like that.

Yeah.  And that bogs down the narrative.

I can understand that.  If there are so many characters that one needs a Dramatis Personae to keep track (and more authors need to include one), it definitely would be difficult to listen to, even sitting in your living room without the distractions of driving.
