Because of the fires in California, the swallows came here instead of San Juan Capistrano.  They ate all my olives.  They filled the trees and yard in swarms.  I did NOT like it.  I know they had to eat, but still.  Those olives are for the other birds in January.  Rambling, sorry.

Well, we were far enough away from the storm for it to have no effect on our flight at all.  It was something I'll never forget.  But I don't have your fear of flying.  I don't think I'll fly again, tho.  The world is scary.  I did fly to NY in December after 9-11 just to show the terrorists I could.  I was much younger then.

I lived in Lubbock, TX.  Tornado alley.  Great thunderstorms, the best I've ever seen.  Only once did we get in the bathtub for tornado safety.

That makes me think of the time I was reading Mockingbird with my 10-year-old niece.  I wanted her to start out with this knowledge.  Anyway, when she went home once, her mom asked about how our book How To Kill A Mockingbird was going.

I'm sorry it scares you.  I'm just weird, I guess.  I won't go on a ferris wheel, but I will get in a helicopter that flies over the edge of the Grand Canyon.  Wow!  The world fell away as we went over.  The door was open and no seat belts as we tilted to the side and flew along the inside of the Canyon.  I had a strangle hold on my boyfriend's shirt, and it was soaking wet when we landed.

New Mexico is in a serious drought.  We are tinder dry and scared and fire.  I wish it would rain.  It rains 10 drops and that's it.  Today is cloudy and humid and hot.  My cooler doesn't work well when it's humid.  It's an evaporative A/C -- swamp cooler.

I have been to Chicago, but only the airport.  Really haven't Illinois.  I was born in Minnesota -- cold!!  Now I'm a desert rat starting to melt by noon.
