Batman Day (Third Sat of Sept or May 1) - Batman Day is an annual event organised by DC Entertainment to celebrate and promote Batman. The first Batman Day was July 23, 2014. This was the year of the 75th anniversary of the first appearance of Batman in Detective Comics in 1939. The day was chosen to coincide with San Diego Comic-Con. Subsequent Batman Days have been on the third Saturday in September. May 1 is Batman Day. The unofficial holiday celebrates and honors one of the world's most well-known comic book superhero. While the origins of this holiday are unknown, the general consensus is that the day commemorates the date in 1939 when the crime fighter made his debut in the Detective Comics. Batman gets his name from the bat-like cape he wears while fighting crime.

In addition to contemporary music, the festival hosts dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret, and other arts. Probably the most famous in England. Happy Mew Year For Cats Day ( Jan 2) - It’s Happy Mew Year for Cats Day on January 2nd. Not only does this day give us a reason to slip a little more catnip to our furry felines, it also gives cats in need the chance for a fresh start. The founders, Tom and Ruth Roy, wanted cats to have a very special New Year's celebration all to themselves.

This one does not look happy or amused.........

The 1883 Krakatoa eruption  in the Sunda Strait began on the afternoon of Sunday, 26 August 1883—with origins as early as that May—and peaked on the late morning of Monday, 27 August 1883, when over 70% of the island of Krakatoa and its surrounding archipelago were destroyed as it collapsed into a caldera.

The eruption was one of the deadliest and most destructive volcanic events in recorded history and explosions were so violent that they were heard 3,110 kilometres (1,930 mi) away in Perth, Western Australia, and Rodrigues near Mauritius, 4,800 kilometres (3,000 mi) away. At least 36,417 deaths are attributed to the eruption and the tsunamis it created. The sound was claimed to be heard in 50 different locations around the world and the sound wave is recorded to have travelled the globe 7 times over.
