Last fall I fabricated two low tunnels to see if I could over winter a spinach crop.

Well, I just sat down for lunch and glanced at the digital wireless thermometer and it's 95*F under the low tunnels!

Off we go, out the door and the plastic comes off the tunnels. Lift up the agribon and wow, spinach about 2 weeks to 3 weeks from harvest and a very nice crop of over wintered weeds! A few stray beet plants survived and some onions too.

Success! Over wintered spinach crop ready to harvest in a few weeks! Spinach ready to eat when we are usually just planting.

Photos in a few days.

Well we have about 50 2009 spinach plants that should  harvest in a week.  I started a few rows of new spinach in between the plants from last fall.

Pea support and net installed today and 3 rows of peas planted. Also worked on new fence for the garden.

The 2010 garden has been started!

This fellow was eating better than I was from my garden this summer. He has moved out of the area.
