Seems the driver was a drunk Native American.  Don't know yet if he was just drunk or had something else in mind.

I gather ... Gallup Police responded to reports of several people consuming alcohol. When they arrived, the driver put the vehicle in gear and fled through the parade. After being arrested Jeff Irving stated they were watching the parade and then decided to leave.

Salman Rushdie has been stabbed in the neck at a Upstate New York event. Condition still unknown at this time..

As I understand, the stabber shown below stands to earn $3 million from Iran?

According to his agent, Rushdie is on a ventilator.
'The news is not good, he will likely lose one eye; the nerves in his arm were severed; and his liver was stabbed and damaged.'

Seems his Satanic Verses is racking up quite a record, something he's been able  to elude until now.

At least 45 people were killed in riots over the book, including 12 people in Rushdie's hometown of Mumbai. In 1991, a Japanese translator of the book was stabbed to death and an Italian translator survived a knife attack. In 1993, the book’s Norwegian publisher was shot three times and survived.

looking good ...

Salman Rushdie is off the ventilator,  able to talk and even joking about his ordeal!

Looks like the assassin will miss out on the $3 million award.

It's been an exhausting week.

Way back at the beginning there was Sarah Palin laying out her priorities when elected. She wants to reopen the investigation into Hillary’s emails, Benghazi, and “Congress should be having these huge, badass rallies on the steps of the Capitol ..they should be having fireside chats. "

Most exciting was the RAID, err ... search warrant ... executed at  Trump's residence in Florida. I take it he now wants the FBI to return all of the documents that he declassified and they then planted; it's confusing.

The first of Trump's casualties this week, armed with a nail gun and AR-15 , tries to storm an FBI office and shuts down the Interstate in Ohio before being killed.  “Well, I thought I had a way through bullet proof glass, and I didn’t. If you don’t hear from me, it is true I tried attacking the F.B.I., and it’ll mean either I was taken off the internet, the F.B.I. got me, or they sent the regular cops.”

Then: Shame on you. Your God becomes unpopular when you believe this is right and in his name:
“From the beginning men used God to justify the unjustifiable.”
? Salman Rushdie, The Satanic Verses

Meanwhile Biden racks up some of victories ... I don't understand why all the hate from some quarters. He is getting things done even while falling off bicycles and standing around waiting for someone to shake his hand.

Finally, baring any last minute developments,  probably another victim of Trump crashes his car into a Capitol barricade and blows his vestigial brain out.

may you live in interesting times ...
