As I recall it was during the dog days of summer, no news, fox was desperate for something to get Obama.
Until they pointed it out I didn't realize that giving a serious news conference in a casual tan suit is totally inappropriate!

Scary social media for sure ... too many posters insist Trump can declassify documents just by waving his hands and the image of the loot was staged. Of course it was staged, just not the weird way they're thinking.

From what I understand, presidents do have the right to declassify any documents they want, and keep them. Obama still has millions of documents, and it's ok for him to have them. So it should be ok for Trump to have the ones he is being accused of having.

Well ...
We know Trump has the idea as President he can do as he wants and his mob totally agrees, they want a despot. A President may indeed be able to declassify documents but there is a way, there are rules on how to do this beyond just waving a magic wand over them.
To start, none of the documents are marked declassified. The image of the haul shows documents marked Top Secret. See the one in front labeled "top secret/sensitive compartmented information." That means the material is considered so sensitive that even those with a top-secret security clearance wouldn't be able to see it unless they had a need to know. That kind of document should not be treated so carelessly.
Trump and his allies claim that the former president issued standing orders to declassify all documents removed from the Oval Office but no one has any record of such an order and top Trump aides have said the claim appears to be patently false. John Kelly, Trump’s chief of staff: "Nothing approaching an order that foolish was ever given,"
Classified or not, by law, at the end of a President's term all documents from notebook doodles to top-secret security plans are supposed to go directly to the National Archives (NARA) as the material is considered the property of the American people, not their personal property.
Obama did it! He did not keep classified info in his desk drawer after leaving office. NARA: Upon the end of Obama’s term some 30 million documents were moved to a NARA-operated facility in the Chicago area, but none were classified. The administration’s classified documents are stored in a separate NARA facility in the Washington, D.C., area.
