cocaine and hippos

We may never know who placed (lost?) cocaine in a cubby near the White House's West Executive entrance [HUNTER BIDEN!] but we can connect the dots and blame it on Pablo Escobar, the drug lord who did much to get people hooked and thereby got very rich.

Rich people with lots of money can indulge in their wildest fancy, which is what Escobar did when back in the 1980's he smuggled four hippopotamuses to join the tigers and lions and such at his ranch in Colombia. He's dead now but his 'cocaine hippos' have become the largest-sized invasive species known to science, hundreds roam the rivers of Columbia and sometimes wander into roads or through towns. They have no natural predators and damage the local environment. You think deer are a traffic hazard, imagine hitting a hippo crossing the road. That's what happened recently when an SUV plowed into one. The hippo was killed, the humans survived.

Cocaine paid for the hippos, caroming through years to cause damage to an SUV somewhere in Colombia!
