SOME tradition is important. Some tradition is not. The oppression of women was traditional, slavery was traditional...
In 2021 a tradition that involves the notion of the superiority of one person and the concomitant inferiority of everyone else is surely not important to perpetuate?

Only if the residents feel inferior. Clearly they do not and don’t care. It’s your issue, not theirs.

It doesn't really matter whether they FEEL inferior or not. Their system means they are inferior whether they think about it or feel it...if one person is on top everyone else is underneath.
In your country, the way to describe the president is excellent; "Primus inter Pares"...first among equals. Says it all about democracy...

Well, that is your opinion. I’m ready to continue talking about Meghan and Harry.

Yes Prince Harry is a big boy, and yes he has made his choices. The question is WHY did he make the choice he did.
Meghan grew up around the entertainment industry so she would be familiar with how the tabloids work, the types of articles they print, etc. She is also a woman who has always done what she wanted when she wanted. As a member of the Royal family she could not do what she wanted, when she wanted. There were rules, and regulations that had to be followed. She claims she gave up everything for the Royal family so what exactly did she give up? Meghan closed down her social media accounts, and her blog, however she had access to social media via the palace. She just had to be very careful what she put out there, and how often. As for her leaving her job as a cast member of the T.V. drama Suits...she was considering leaving that job before she ever met Prince Harry. She has said she wanted "her voice" to be heard. That most likely would not happen as a working Royal.
As for Prince Harry. Pretty much the entire world was aware of the problems, etc. he suffered as a result of his mother's death, and his resulting feelings, and fears towards the media, and especially the tabloids. On their Africa tour, Meghan did an interview, and mentioned how hard it was, how very few people had asked her if she was OK, while looking as though she was about to cry. Later, when Prince Harry gave his speech that they were stepping back from Royal duties he said something along the lines that it was terrible to see a loved one going through so much. He also said there was no other option.
Meghan is a actress, not a great one, but an actress, and as such it wouldn't have been difficult for her to be very upset over tabloid articles, and from what she said at the Oprah interview, the way she was supposedly treated at the palace. It took time, and manipulation, but it would not have been all that hard to play on Prince Harry's fears, etc. to the point that he felt the only thing he could do was to step back from Royal life in order to protect his wife.
Kind of funny how she wanted privacy, but once here, she has openly courted the press. So she, in fact, gave up nothing, Prince Harry however has left the only life he has known, left his family, and friends in order to protect her. Sure he can communicate with them via internet, etc. but that really isn't the same as being there. I find it sad.
