No, we call her the Queen. You’re too fixated on subservience and colonialism and clearly don’t read either as you obviously didn’t read anything I posted above.

What country are you in?

You gave a good explanation.

I did indeed read what you said. Which was why I answered you in the way I did...pointing out that symbolism is important. Monarchy IS about the symbolism of subservience and submission, whether you like it or not. The monarch is at the top of the pyramid and everyone else is underneath them. If you accept a monarch as your head of state, you accept that you are inferior to them.

And, in having a foreigner who doesn't even live in your country, the head of state of the country that colonised you and head of the "colonial club" called the Commonwealth there is the symbolism of colonisation and lack of national pride.  People who love their country wouldn't dream of tolerating accepting that.

You really don't understand Canadians if you think this how we feel.

Well, you can't have national pride if you are happy to have a foreigner who has only visited  your  country a handful of times as your head of state, and you can't have self respect if you are happy to be considered inferior to this person.

I don't feel this way, nor does any other Canadian in my estimation, you have no conception of Canadian identity, you're so hyper focused on injustices to Ireland that you can't see straight or conceive that anyone else might have a different world view than you, don't presume to tell an entire country how to feel and declare they have no self respect, that's about as disrespectful as you can get and frankly I find your comments incredibly offensive.

Nothing to do with my nationality. I'm talking about the concept of monarchy, in any country. It is an anachronism that belongs to the Middle Ages, not the 21st century. Most countries believe in equality and democracy.

And, on top of that, you have a country that not only has an anachronistic institution like a monarchy, but has a monarch who doesn't live in the country and isn't even a citizen of it. I mean, how crazy is that?

I'm not telling an entire country anything. I'm simply outlining what having a foreign monarch means in ANY country

But we don’t though, you talk about it like the Monarchy is making Canada’s decisions, that just simply is not the case, the Queen isn’t even on our paper money anymore
