High speed trains are popular but there aren’t that many of them.

There are quite a few of them throughout Japan... they've been in operation since 1964 then the first Tokyo Olympics were held.

They leave every 10 or 15 minutes from numerous platforms at Tokyo Station. Current fast trains travel at speeds up to 360 kilometers per hour.

ROFLMAO...

Over budgeted too far behind schedule and well... I doubt we'll ever see it up and running.

They could have done it 10 times cheaper by using existing Japanese Shinkansen Bullet Train technology which has been around for 50 or so years and done it in under 2~3 years.

Actually, it's a very very very long duck bill. It's been wind tunnel modified, curved a bit differently this way and that over the past 10 years to allow for maximum speeds over 600 kilometers per hour. When traveling that fast, the wind sheer factor plays a really big and important factor of whether the vehicle starts to fly into the air or stays hovered over the ground.
