Is it legal there? Would they get arrested for the pot?

That's on a state by state basis, but if the police are looking for the owners, I would imagine that it's illegal.

And because they said the drone was around $2,100... it's not one of those cheap ones. They also didn't mention the amount attached to it's payload but if it's a $2,100 drone, it could be several pounds. It's a DJI Phantom 4 drone: Phantom 4 Pro - DJI but the transmission range is only 4.3 miles so where ever it took off from was less than 4.3 miles from where it crashed. It can use both a 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz transmission frequency.

I'm sure both the drone and also probably the parcels in the package have fingerprints on them, not to mention the two cellphones can also be traced.

ROFLMAO...

At least it won't require 3 meals a day while in jail! (* CHUCKLE *)

Wonder if there was some kind of correctional or similar secured  facility nearby that the package was destined for. That, in other settings, generally doesn't require that kind of logistics to deliver.

It's unlikely that it would have been a correctional facility because the guards would have seen such a drone and they also probably have perimeter sensors (invisible infrared, etc.) that the drone would trigger had it flown through them.

If it were some other kind of secure facility, perhaps it had GPS jamming or GPS deflecting technology around it which bounced and sent the drone off on the wrong coordinates.

But there should be fingerprints on both the drone and the package.

Maybe they just sent it to the wrong address. Still, why a drone unless it was being sent over some kind of land based barrier like a river or a border or something.

Lake Erie is over 50 miles away and thus that type of drone would not have been able to make it from a ship in Lake Erie... that drone's range is only 4.3 miles.

However, I did find this: Mansfield Correctional Institution (MCI), OH Inmate Search | Name Search (usacountyrecords.com)

I'm not sure how far that is from where the drone crashed, but the woman said the drone crashed into her house for some reason or another.

Perhaps out of range of control, maybe battery ran out?
