‘They Weren’t Duped’: Sen. Ron Johnson Shreds Federal Agencies, Media For Being ‘Vital Partners’ Of The Left

Sen. Ron Johnson
February 09, 2023 3:13 PM ET

Republican Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson shredded federal agencies and the corporate media for working with Democratic operatives to promote “left-wing ideology” in the past several years.

Johnson criticized agencies for allegedly covering for left-wing politicians while simultaneously targeting former President Donald Trump and other conservatives in the years following the 2016 presidential election. He accused the media of complying with the FBI in investigating the now-discredited allegations that Russia colluded with the 2016 Trump campaign and covering up the Hunter Biden laptop story.

“It is important to recognize corrupt individuals within federal agencies that I am talking about are not acting alone. They operate as vital partners of the left-wing political movement and includes most members of the mainstream media, Big Tech, social media giants, global institutions and foundations, Democrat Party operatives and elected officials. As the Twitter Files reveal, these actors worked in concert to defeat their political opponents and promote left-wing ideology and government control over our lives.”

The senator accused the FBI of displaying a double standard between its treatment of former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Trump. He criticized former FBI director James Comey for “exonerating” Clinton, whose emails were under investigation for discussing foreign affairs on her private servers when she served as an Obama-era secretary of state.

The FBI launched an investigation into accusations that Russia colluded with the 2016 Trump campaign to interfere in the results. Johnson said he and Republican Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley disclosed “highly partisan” text messages between FBI employees Peter Strzok and Lisa Page regarding the matter, which found that the FBI used a post-election briefing to gather intelligence information on the Trump team. He then accused the corporate media of complying with federal agencies by reporting “false information” about Russiagate, and pointed to alleged left-wing allies within the FBI.

“Who might those leakers be? Why aren’t reporters who received the leaks outraged at being fed false information? And why haven’t they blown the whistle on the leakers? Why didn’t the mainstream media robustly investigate how they were all duped? The answer is, they weren’t duped. They were complicit in creating and fostering the political turmoil our country has been experiencing over the last six years. Those leaks were a key ingredient in the most destructive political dirty trick in U.S. history. The creation and promotion of the false Russia-Trump collusion narrative.”

The Wisconsin senator pointed to the communication between the House Intelligence Committee and a whistleblower during the Democrat-led impeachment of Trump in 2018. Democratic California Rep. Adam Schiff denied during the first impeachment hearing that he knew the identity of the whistleblower or that he had personally met him. However, the whistleblower met with an unidentified Schiff aide before filing a complaint against Trump with the Intelligence Community Inspector General.

Johnson said federal agencies and Congress have a duty to investigate the misleading claims made by Schiff during the impeachment hearings.

He then turned to the Hunter Biden laptop story and his business dealings in Ukraine following the abandonment of his computer in a Delaware repair shop. He accused agencies’ efforts, particularly the FBI, to coverup the laptop story and pass it off as “Russian disinformation.”

A whistleblower disclosed to Grassley that the FBI was downplaying Biden’s reported “criminal financial and related activity” in Ukraine and China prior to the 2020 presidential election. Former FBI agent Timothy Thibault allegedly “ordered closed” an “avenue of additional derogatory Hunter Biden reporting.”

Why didn't this make the headline news last year when it happened?

Flashback 2022: Ukrainian Politician’s Wife Caught at Border with $29 million Packed in Suitcases

By Jim Hoft
Feb. 24, 2023 4:06 pm

Ben Harnwell highlighted this corruption report earlier today on The War Room.

For some reason, the story did not make many headlines last year when the story first broke.

Anastasia Kotvitska, the wife of Ukrainian MP Igor Kotvitsky, was caught at the border crossing into Hungary with a suitcase full of $28 million US dollars and 1.3 million euros.

Kotvitska was traveling with her mother when she was stopped at the border.

In January news broke that Ukrainian officials blew millions of US taxpayer dollars in sports cars, mansions and luxury vacations.

There has never been an audit on the over $110 billion in US taxpayer dollars sent to Ukraine, one of the most corrupt nations on earth.

The National File reported:

The wife of former Ukrainian MP Igor Kotvitsky was caught bringing $28 million packed in suitcases at the Hungarian border on March 14, Ukrainian media has reported.

Anastasia Kotvitska was at a checkpoint in Vylok, according to Obozrevatel, when Hungarian customs discovered the bags with cash in American dollars and euros in a minivan. As well as $28 million, the suitcases were also reportedly filled with €1.3 million.

Kotvitska had been travelling with two Hungarian citizens as well as her mother Galina Kucher, sources told Obozrevatel.

A criminal case has now been opened by the State Bureau of Investigation accusing Kotvitska of not declaring the money, according to Ukrainian Pravda.

It’s Far Too Late For A ‘Reckoning’ Of The Trump Years. The Corrupted News Media Are Irredeemable

BY: EDDIE SCARRY
FEBRUARY 01, 2023

No amount of ‘painful road of introspection’ can fix what the media did to this country and to American democracy.

If you have nothing going on and 10 hours to spare, you should still find something to do other than read the tragically long article in the Columbia Journalism Review that bills itself as a reckoning for the appalling misconduct of the news media during the Trump years. It’s too little and about six years too late for that trash.

Mummified legend Bob Woodward is quoted in the piece, authored this week by former New York Times journalist Jeff Gerth, urging newsrooms to “walk down the painful road of introspection.” Gerth himself says “news outlets and watchdogs haven’t been as forthright in examining their own Trump-Russia coverage.” He ticks through a series of prominent writers and editors who “declined to comment” on his exhausting attempt at serious — very, very serious — media accountability.

So what? They did what they did. They continue to do it. They have achieved their goals and shown they’re willing to defend their victories with whatever it takes. But we, the people who called B.S. from the beginning, are supposed to be impressed, grateful even, that someone of prestige is acknowledging that we were right?

Gerth, Woodward, and the rest can go practice having a stroke.

No amount of “painful road of introspection” can fix what the media, conspiring with the Democratic Party and the permanent Washington bureaucracy, did to this country and to American democracy. They beat a terrifying lie — a sitting president as an asset of a foreign adversary — into the public consciousness for more than two years, crippling the political agenda Trump was duly elected to enact and, certainly, aiding in the denial of a second term in office.

But look! Here’s a renowned journalist giving them a stern talking-to!

Nobody cares. It’s over. They won. And they’ve never stopped.

As horrid as the media was pre-Trump, its shortcomings were mostly recognized as “liberal bias.” What they did beginning in 2017 and ever since isn’t bias. It’s dishonest. It’s malicious. It’s evil.

Gerth even has the nerve to offer the media some cover in his piece, faulting Trump, who, as president, “seemed almost to be toying with the press, offering spontaneous answers to questions about Russia that seemed to point to darker narratives.” That’s a convenient explanation for the two years of breathless, unrelenting headlines and cable news graphics declaring that “the walls are closing in,” “the noose is tightening,” and “we’re at a turning point” of the Russia saga. Remember those? That went on for years. Years.

And then, one sleepy Sunday in the spring of 2019, Attorney General William Barr revealed the truth: The Justice Department’s special counsel, with unlimited resources and funding, found no collusion between Trump and Russia.

It was time to give up the ghost. So they did.

Yeah, right. They then claimed that even if there wasn’t technical collusion, there were attempts at collusion. There was never going to be an admission that the country had been conned, manipulated, and had.

Instead, they eventually changed the subject, agitating nationwide rioting over a race conflict that doesn’t exist and instigating mass hysteria over a virus that passed through 99 percent of the population without incident. They did it, all of it, to dispose of Trump and discredit the movement that put a genuine Washington outsider at the highest level of government for the purpose of real, fundamental change. It was a great success.

Let’s eagerly await the “long road of introspection” the corrupt media will take in 2029 when, again, it’s too late to do anything about it.

They can’t fix it and don’t want to. They are proud of themselves. Republicans need to stop allowing the media to get away with it.

Yep, and it just goes to show how corrupt Ukraine is and therefore, we need to NOT send them more cash because it will just trickle it's way back into the Democrats pockets in one fashion/way or another.
