I can't help but wonder if gun ownership affects one's answer to your question.

It’s possible. My belief at this moment is that we are all saddened and upset about mass school shootings and want them stopped.  Everyone has opinions on how to stop them.  The first Ted Talk above by the psychologist in message #47 had new information.  There have not been many, although even one was too much. There have been only 13.  We can get that number down to zero if we learn how to prevent them before they occur.

And what is your proposal?

Address the human violence problem.  Arm the staff and harden access to the facility.  Hold the parents responsible for the child's actions.

Any that you think are particularly insightful or have a moderate to good probability of actually working?

Suicide prevention. Identifying and forming relationships between trusted adults and at risk students.  Most shooters are suicidal teens who have been bullied or abused, who don’t fit it. They telegraph their intentions long before they do anything. They have access to guns. They are not restrained or institutionalized. We have millions of guns in our country yet we don’t have millions of schools shootings. They are actually very rare. In every case, there were signs in advance of students shooting inside schools.

Someone pointed out if guns are take away, determined killers will turn to bombs or poisons or caustics.  Guns are actually easier to find and remove in advance than alternative means of destruction.

No gun law on the books today... either already passed or in the works of being passed has ever stopped a bad guy from buying an illegal gun.

Think about that... all the laws already on the books are to limit legal buyers from purchasing weapon, but none of them prevent the bad guys from getting their hands on guns illegally!!!

Gun free zones tend to be targets of shootings.
