West Illinois? New Illinois?

27 Counties in Illinois Pass Referendums to Explore Secession From State

By Margaret Flavin

Communities throughout the state of Illinois are held hostage in every election by broken, crime-ridden, Democrat controlled Cook County.

On Election Day 2022, voters in 27 counties in the state passed non-binding referendums urging elected officials to participate in conversations focused on ending ties with the state.

In the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton “won” the state.  But the maps shows the majority of geographic areas did not.  Millions of Illinoians are left voiceless and unable to impact state-wide and national races.

Non-profit New Illinois is educating Illinois citizens about the process of pursuing the creation of a new state.

New Illinois is a nonprofit organization that educates Illinois citizens about their right to pursue the creation of new state from the State of Illinois. We are seeking a state split, following the process provided in the U.S. Constitution (Article IV, Sec. 3). This is the same way that West Virginia split from Virginia.

We are a addressing longstanding divide in the State of Illinois. This divide is not between Democrats and Republicans—it is urban vs. rural, small town and suburban. We are two very different places, both culturally and economically. Legislation and policies addressing the needs and best interests of a major urban area like Chicago/Cook County are not necessarily in the best interests of the rest of the state.

From NBC Chicago:

On Election Day in Illinois, ballots contained statewide questions ranging from whether or not to amend the state’s constitution, to who should be the next Governor of Illinois, to who should sit on the Illinois State Supreme Court.

But some local ballots contained questions about whether to leave the state altogether.

Tuesday, two Illinois counties and a portion of another passed non-binding referendums that would encourage their elected officials to engage in discussions about potentially severing ties with the state government.

The votes were hardly a new phenomenon. Instead, they join a growing list of Illinois counties seeking to express their displeasure with lawmakers.

Previously, at least 24 counties had passed so-called “separation referendums,” according to reporting by Illinois Public Media. The three new additions to that list, Brown, Hardin, and the northeastern portion of Madison County, would bring that number to 27, representing more than 25% of the state’s 102 counties.

According to IPM, 23 counties had previously passed separation referendums after the 2020 elections, including Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Edwards, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Hancock, Jefferson, Johnson, Lawrence, Marion, Massac, Moultrie, Pope, Richland, Shelby, Wabash, Wayne and White.

New California...

The State of New California Takes One Step Closer to Being America’s 51st State

By Joe Hoft
Published October 23, 2022 at 8:00pm

The state of New California took another giant step towards statehood last week.

Americans in the state of California have had enough of the corrupt anti-American actions the unconstitutional leaders of the state continue to take.  These patriots are tired of policies that the leadership in the state takes to help China and the cartels while destroying the state and the country.  They’ve had enough.

These multiple unconstitutional anti-American actions taken by the far-left and now communist acting leaders of the state are too much.  The state cannot continue with policies of open borders, high crime, massive spending, and corrupt elections.  Because of all this, the state of New California was formed.

The leadership of the new state of California has held numerous meetings over the past few years.  They ultimately decided to use the West Virginia model to create a new state which is made up of numerous counties in the current state of California.

During the Civil War a group of patriots that wanted to side with the Union, broke off from Virginia Democrats and created their own state.  This model was adopted by the patriots in California more than a century later.  In the 1860s America was in a Civil War.  In the 2020s America is being destroyed from the inside by a different group of Democrats with no regard for the US Constitution.

Last Friday the participants working towards statehood for the new state held another meeting.  This meeting was special.  The New California State Senate and Assembly both approved the EMERGENCY ORDINANCE FOR THE REORGANIZATION OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT.

From the first paragraph of their Emergency Ordinance, the new state members write:

“We the People of the State of California by their Delegates assembled do ordain as follows:

A Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and Secretary of State for the State of California shall be appointed by this body to discharge the duties and exercise the powers which pertain to their respective offices by the existing laws of the State under the Constitution of 1849/50 as approved by the United States Congress at the time of statehood, and to continue in office for six months, or until their successors be elected and qualified. The General Assembly is required to provide by law for an election of Governor and Lieutenant Governor by the people as soon as in their judgment such election can be properly held.”

Ordinance – Reorganization of State of CA-Version 2 by Jim Hoft on Scribd

The vote was unanimous in both houses of the new state.  The Senate deliberated and discussed the merits of the Ordinance at length.

While the rest of the country struggles to decide what to do about the corrupt actors that have taken over their states and locked in elections through fraudulent means into perpetuity, this group is using the West Virginia model to create a new state that abides by the US Constitution.

This could get interesting.

That will never happen. Newsom was able to stop them the last time. It never even made it to a vote.

'Greater Idaho' Moves Closer To Bi-State Referendum As Two More Oregon Counties Vote To Leave

BY TYLER DURDEN
MONDAY, NOV 28, 2022 - 05:30 AM

On Nov. 8, Oregon’s Morrow County passed the Greater Idaho proposal with 60 percent of the vote and Wheeler County with 59 percent.

A similar measure in San Bernardino County, California, passed by a narrow margin, 51.3 percent to 48.7.

“These are solutions they want their elected leaders to look into,” said Matt McCaw, spokesman for the Greater Idaho Movement based in Oregon.

“We think it makes sense to move the border to where the cultural divide [exists]. Oregon is a very polarized state—two very different cultures.”

The Greater Idaho Movement seeks as many as 15 counties in Republican-majority rural eastern Oregon to join with neighboring Idaho to the east.

So far, 11 counties have signed on since the movement launched in 2019. Another county will vote on whether to investigate the secession process early in 2023.

If both states ultimately agree to separation, the next step would be to form an interstate compact between Idaho and Oregon, something McCaw believes has “plenty of popular support.”

The benefits would be mutual, he said.

For example, though Oregon would end up losing about 400,000 (9 percent) of its population and ceding 63 percent of its land mass to Idaho, a political merger would end the longstanding partisan divide in Oregon, where Democrats comprise 47 percent of the electorate.

The situation is nearly the reverse in Idaho, with nearly 84,000 square miles, 2 million residents, and a gross domestic product that exceeds $79 billion. Moreover, nearly 50 percent of the state leans conservative and Republican.

Oregon, by contrast, encompasses more than 98,000 square miles and has 4 million residents and a gross domestic product of $224 billion. Vast swathes of some 30 million acres of productive forestland lie in the eastern part of the state.

McCaw said most of Oregon’s wealth comes from industry and finance in the western coastal area, where liberal politicians in the state’s largest city of Portland often decide the state’s policies.

“The west side of the state is urban and very left-learning. The right side of the state is very rural—very conservative. Eastern Oregonians match culture and values, and politics with Idaho.”

McCaw said that political and cultural polarization is a problem not only in Oregon but across the United States. He said there is a “huge urban [and] rural divide” that is “only getting bigger.”

He said that disapproval with the 2022 midterm elections among conservatives would only fuel partisan realignments at the state and county levels.

“We’re about matching government to people and their values. You get rid of polarization and tension by matching people to the government they want,” McCaw told The Epoch Times.

In San Bernardino County, with more than 2 million residents, real estate developer Jeff Burum proposed Measure EE as a way to leave California and create the new state of Empire.

At issue is the state’s apparent inability to supply the resources or funding to support a growing population.

The measure asked voters their “opinion on whether they want San Bernardino County elected representatives to study and advocate for all options to obtain the county’s fair share of state funding, including secession from the state of California.”

Burum told The San Bernardino Sun, “I would never wilfully want to leave this state. But I can tell you this, if you’re just going to continue to abuse me and abuse us, sometimes you don’t have a choice but to stand up for yourself.”

But then it would mess up the electoral college. It can’t be redone again until 2030.

If a secession occurs, parts of the current electoral college will become null for that part of the state which seceded.

As we've yet to have a state secede from the Union, there are no past examples of this, but I would presume that they would be forced to redo the electoral college after the secession!

Not since the Civil War of course. As equally divided as this country is today, who knows what might happen. If a Convention of States does happen that might change things. I have no idea where that movement stands at present.

The electoral college stays as it is until after the next Census.
