Depopulation one way or the other... the inevitable natural process... or the planned way! (* SMIRK *)

I suspect no planning is needed. It's just going along a ballistic path. I'd feel more comfortable if, say, the lizard people were secretly running things, than the more likely truth that at best, Homer Simpson is asleep at the controls.

Or we will pull it together and be fine.

Well, it would need nuclear fusion to really get the energy problem dealt with long term. And it's been 5 years away since the 1970s. I don't believe them any more.

It might, but I've learned to not set dates as I've read far too many books predicting a specific end of the world pattern, that was supposed to happen 30 years ago or so or earlier.

Yep, government tends to mess up a lot more than they can fix.

Actually hydrogen, being so much lighter than air, in a fire, all the heat is up and away.

The infamous Hindenberg footage, all the visible flame was burning fabric and dope of the airframe. The hydrogen flame was all but invisible and high above, and burned cleanly to produce steam.

Yep, nobody can set a date with any clear knowledge. Thus, anybody who does, shouldn't be believed.

However, there are events recorded in the Bible... although we don't know what those dates are, we do know about the events as they are written in the scripture.

So, look for the occurrence of the events and if they've yet to occur, then the end won't come yet.

I think you meant 50 years, not 5 and yes, I agree.

I’ve been watching The Simpson again.

Oh, I distinctly remember seeing an article in a magazine in 1979 that claimed we would have controlled nuclear fusion by 1984.

Here we are, some 44 years later, and it seems to be mostly marking time. And they never did come up with the flying cars, the moving sidewalks, personal jet packs, and vacations to the moon they promised we'd have by 2001.
