I didn’t hear about that before.

Viktor Orban is definitely a hard right Nationalist, I don't know if he's a dictator or not, a lot of people think so, it's not like he's Lukashenko.

What does hard right mean?  It’s actually a nebulous term that means different things when talking about different people or countries.

I looked him and he’s the first PM of Hungary since the Cold War who hasn’t been a communist. If that makes him hard right, good for him.

It's a former soviet bloc nation, what did you expect their former leaders to be?

Here's a sampling of some of things about him I don't particularly like.

First of all, he's a realistic pragmatist and not a totalitarian thug.

He prevented the middle eastern refugees from entering Hungary.

He stands up for Christianity and Hungary's autonomy in deciding what is best for their country.

He puts Hungary first and Trump applauded him for doing just that.

He's a staunch conservative.

Soros spent millions if not billions trying to get him ousted from power, but it didn't work.

Hungary should be a role model for all of Europe.

But Biden calls him a totalitarian thug!!!

If it’s an eastern bloc country why do they dislike his ties to Russia. Either he has them or he doesn’t but they are accusing him of two opposite things.

His words were rude but many European nations, like England have all but been destroyed by huge surges of Muslim immigrants who created NoGo zones, crime, and refused to accept western culture while taking everything else they could.

Soros himself has supported antisemitic causes, especially against Israel so he’s not a good example here. He is also trying to destroy the U.S. according to many politicians and commentators. I don’t follow him so I’m repeating what others have said.

I know a family that moved here during the height of the communism in Hungary and the seem to think he’s alright compared to what they lived through then. They were children and not shaped their lives forever.

Many people don't understand the history of Hungary... hey... many Americans don't even understand the history of the United States for that matter.

Hungary joined the European Union in 2004 and has been part of the Schengen Area since 2007.

But they stood up and defended their country from the middle east refugee invasion that flooded the rest of Europe.... something the rest of Europe should have done too.

They fought for their autonomy and won. They lost over 70% of their previous land and over 50% of their people after WWI, and thus they're not in cahoots with Russia, regardless of what anybody else says. The antisemitism trope is also another lie the liberal news media are purporting.

Soros has been spending millions if not billions to oust Orban.

The claims in that HuffPo article claim >>>Orban has presided over a deterioration of press freedom in Hungary<<<, but the only thing Hungary has been suppressing are the liberal left disinformation lies of Soros and his cronies.

You can read about Hungary's history here: Hungary - Wikipedia

You're not understanding, because it's an eastern bloc nation, formally, there is an ingrained attitude among the populace, they are used to things being a certain way, I'm not saying that way was good either, but that political culture exists.

Oh my god, patently untrue. There is huge muslim immigration and will continue to be with climate migrants becoming a very real thing but the islamifcaton of european nations is such a BS dogwhistle. Look, I don't think women in that society should be forced to wear hijabs but if they say it's their culture, and it's not impinging on ours, then what leg do we have to stand on? England has not been destroyed by it. Jeez.

You do realize he's a holocaust survivor right? RIGHT? My god, if you know next to nothing and are just repeating what other crazy conspiracy nuts are saying, you're just as ignorant as they are.

Maybe it's because they immigrated as children and don't have enough knowledge base and lived experience to make a truly informed judgment.

I’m out.  You are not listening to what I’m saying but are parroting what you’ve read on media sites.  You know very little about Soros now or what Brits are saying about their own country. I made nothing up, and I’m listening to reputable sources and historians. You absolutely do not know what my friends lived through and frankly, I’m personally offended for them that you are making such a judgement.  They are highly educated and are extremely informed and accomplished, far more than what I’m seeing here in disbelief. So as I said, I’m done. This conversation will go nowhere.
