They think they're better drivers it is. They think they're invulnerable. So it won't happen to them. And then it happens to them. Surprise.

It's because drivers think such accidents happen only to "other people".

Same reason that some Darwin Award nominees' famous last words often include "Here, hold my beer and watch this"

Even experienced drivers can slide on ice.

However, more experience on ice means less uncontrolled high speed sliding on ice that only ends when they bash into the side of the feed store.

Most of those who don't slide on ice fly a flag with a maple leaf on it. They get a lot of practice from October to April every year, eh.

Driving on roads covered in ice and snow to and from the hockey games.
