Even the word woke is bizarre when you think about it.  It’s not a noun or an adjective, it’s a verb.  Ironic, isn’t it that the more inclusive they say that they try to be, the more divisive they become? A friend’s former son because a daughter last year and has no interest in fathering or mothering a child.

Meriana said...

Those promoting all this changing of words, etc. claim that doing so makes things more inclusive. So who are they trying to include in their attempt to get rid of the word mother in daily conversation?

Well, they're just liars... they claim to be inclusive by excluding mothers... makes no sense what so ever. They're the exact opposite of what they claim!

Meriana said...

It's more than time that society stopped pandering to a relatively small portion of the population so that they'll feel included, and valued.  They claim to want society to be more accepting, tolerant, and inclusive, but only on their terms. No matter what, or how much is changed to suit them, it will never be enough.

Again, what they claim they want is inclusion but in fact what they're actually doing is excluding everybody else! The exact opposite of what they claim. And until everybody else becomes like them... (miserable nobodies)... they won't stop pushing for what they want. And as that will never happen, it's a never ending story! Pamper to them and they just want more... say enough is enough and stand your ground is all anybody can do!

I mean they all talk about gay pride, but hey... what about straight pride? Why can they have their day but we can't have our day?

FWIW

Everyone is getting bent out of shape about everything it seems. I will always say "Mother" and "Father". What others do is their own business, I'll happily be politically incorrect here.

Amen... but what do we do when others start pushing that in our faces?

Go to jail for being politically incorrect or fighting back for our freedom of speech?

FWIW

That is part of the problem today, lack of tolerance for others.  I've lost "friends" who didn't like my views on whatever.  Their loss, not mine. I've long felt our freedom of speech is dying or dead, if you say something the other person doesn't like... there goes the name calling or worse.

I will too.  I can’t even imagine saying birthing person when I talk about my own mother. What would be the new term for fathers?

It’s ironic that freedom of speech only applies if you use the new terms.

I have not heard, I'm curious though how wacky it would be!

I totally agree with  you. That's why I rarely pipe up about things.

There isn’t a comparable term for males, except they may not be males anymore.  From what I saw, even those who want the language changed don’t care for the term birthing person.  It’s too vague and it could be confused with a midwife, who is now known by some as a doula.  That is in accurate, too because a doula doesn’t perform medical care.  The more they try to change it, the more confusing it gets.
