Hey Anthony,

Big congratulations on getting through that first tough week smoke free! relaxedtada The beginning is the hardest but the more we distance ourselves from it and the further along we go the better it gets. The first year is so important. On that note, I don't blame you for being a bit apprehensive when you saw the thread about the forum possibly closing. Support is equally important. However, it's not closing and there is a thread about that too.

https://forums.delphiforums.com/quit_smoking/messages/7029/1

Both threads were made back in March, so rest assured those three days you mentioned have long past and we're happily still here and carrying on as we have been for years. We're also happy that you're here with us too.

I'm grateful to Andrew for alerting me to your concern. None of us would want to see you leave and we all want be here to support you and each other.

How are you doing with cessation Anthony? Anytime you need a bit of added support please reach out. We not only support and cheer each other on. Some wonderful information can also be provided here to help you with and through cessation. So again, please reach out anytime for support, for information, or just to stay close. Wishing you all the best toward your smoke free success. Speaking of success, look at you go! I'm so happy to join you in celebrating this terrific milestone.  "Way to go Anthony!"

Stay close, stay strong, and stay in the moment. You can do this!

Have a great day. relaxed

Denim: Thank you for such an upbeat message.  Your sincerity rings true to me and makes me feel like, for sure, I’m on the right path.  I’m relieved to hear that the forum is not closing down.

My cessation is going well.  I’m actually surprised.  But I do not take anything for granted.  One day at a time for me.

Once I post, how can I go back to review my posts?  Once they are posted I don’t know where to find them.  Any suggestions.?  I notice support groups for different months and years.  But I see no special group for those whose quit date is in July.

Hey Anthony,

Thank you. Your message is so appreciated and I'm happy to help anytime. I'm also happy to hear that things are going well with your quit. That's great news. I agree with you. It's important to still keep your guard up, especially in the early stages. Kudos to you on taking it a day at a time. That's truly the best way for anyone to to do it.

You can go back to and/or find previous post by clicking the search icon (magnifying glass symbol) at the top left of the page. When you do a 'Search Discussions' box will open, click '+ Additional Criteria' and it will open further. You're wanting to see post from yourself so, where you see 'From' click the drop down tab and select yourself (tonypfan). Where is reads 'To' leave that as it is on 'Anyone'. Next, under that you can select how far back you want to look (ex. all messages up to 3 months or more ago) and how far forward (it's preset to 'Today' but it's up to you), then click the order you want to see them in (oldest fist, newest first, or by relevance) and click 'Search'. They will show/appear on the left side just as the menu does. Just pick the one you want to see. To see another or the next one just look at that list and pick the next one. When you've finished looking just click the refresh symbol at the top of the menu. You can also use these same instructions to view discussions or post 'To' and 'From' whomever you choose the same way. If you don't see the person's name on the drop down, as you can see, there is also a space to type it in. You can also search a specific word or phrase in a post from there.

Keep in touch and keep going, you're doing great! I hope you treat yourself to something special to celebrate your achievement today. You've earned it.

Have a great day. relaxed

Hey Anthony,

Thank you. I think we're all fortunate to have each other here. SusanK referred to us all as forum friends and Terry used to refer to us all as a forum family. I think both are great descriptions. Hope you have a wonderful start to the week tomorrow.

Have a great day. relaxed

Denim:  It’s been great connecting with Ginger, and I look forward to hearing from Overdoze.  These forums are getting easier for me to negotiate.  I was pretty intimidated by this large website and still know little about what’s in it, but so far, my main objective has been to make some stop smoking friendships.  And I have.  This website is terrific.  Thanks.

Good morning to all of the Sensational Senior friends I have made over the years and to many new to our group ~ I bid you a cheery hello from Avon Lake, Ohio.

Twelve years, eight months and one day from smoking the nasty "ciggies" as I call them.  Looking back over the years, I smoked for many reasons ~ in vogue way back in the day, as a way to stay thin, and yes, even being stressed or angry.   I can't imagine that I would be here if it were not for the Forum.

Yes, it is quite warm.  We have returned from a short get away to a remote area of southern Ohio.  It was a large VRBO and quite peaceful.  I do not ever remember seeing the starry starry night that was ours for three nights.  Quite peaceful with the simple songs of the meadow birds.  And now, returning to real life.  Poor Finn (my 10-1/2 year old Golden) was sent to the Pet Resort where it was reported he would not eat his food.....without my suggestion of adding peanut butter.  Perhaps I will have to explore having someone spend the night with him here in our home, rather than board.  He's happy now to spend quiet time on the cool tile floor.

On we go.  To anyone new here....If I smoked a lifetime and I could quit, so can YOU.  You must have willpower and support!  Carry on.

Susan
