Good morning Paul. AQI down to 91 here so almost over. Was nice to see the sky yesterday afternoon.
Really a strange time. Guess we had a lesser type emergency like it in 2002 but we don't even remember.
Must not have been very bad. I was changing companies in my career then, wife was changing companies
and type of career. We were both treated very badly when closing in on retirement. Glad to be rid of them.
Meteorologist said we reached 480 AQI here and scale only goes to 500.
Think I've found a ribbon cable I can order that will work for my repair project that's been on hold for months
waiting on part from Japan. Hope it works. I had to learn types and pitch, besides number of pins, length,
etc... Will probably order it today and see.
Grandson jumped into the pool yesterday afternoon. Last I looked the water temp was 65, 9 degrees below the
minimum I will get in. brrrrr. Feel bad for him, one of the main reasons he came over was to swim, then smoke
and temperature drop with no sunshine. At least we have the pool. Cost us about 17k to put it in, then when I
talked to the pool company in 2010 when we changed the liner it was up to 45k. Hate to see what it is after the
virus. Makes no sense to me to raise prices on everything everywhere because of a virus. Society probably did
the same thing in the past. I see vehicles came back down 6% last year but a long ways to go. Very glad I wasn't
looking for one in this time period. New and late model used all went up about 10k, money thrown away for many.
Wife, me and our daughter changed the pool liner ourselves back in 2010. Hope I'm still able next time.
Hope all is going well in the city now that the smoke is clearing. Happy to see it gone. The pups don't understand
why they were kept indoors most of the time. At least we know what and why. Though they can smell 10k better
than us so they certainly knew the smoke was here, even when they were in the house. We had a small air purifier
we've had running for days. I'm sure it didn't do the whole house but was a help. Guess you can go back to work
now.
Enjoy the day all.

nothing new here yet....waiting for end of covid for me so I can pursue the biopsy.....feeling fine....lots of smoke smell here....have a good day everyone

Good morning Kitty. Hope your illness goes away soon so you can continue with the battles.
I can't smell smoke here any longer. We had a AQI of 460 but now it's down to 75, hope it's
over but the wind could shift towards us again. Meteorologist says the fires could burn all
Summer. Just a small inconvenience for us. People out west have had very bad problems
for years. I was able to continue walking the dogs yesterday morning.
Hope things go well for you today.

Good morning dear Sensational Senior friends ~ Kitty, Carolyn, Ernie and Paul ~
A lovely day here with an almost 100% chance of rain late this afternoon and into tomorrow. I cannot remember the exact amount of days we have been experiencing a no rain drought, perhaps three weeks. It will be most welcome as my body tires from filling watering cans twice a day (front and back) to keep my garden growing.
Enjoy the remainder of the week-end. We will take dear Bronwen swimming in the pool if the raindrops hold off.

Good evening, everyone. A nice weekend here also. Though this is as warm as I want it.
A pretty dry May. Below is from our watershed/reservoirs which are 100-150 miles north of the city.
Average Precipitation | (inches) | |
---|---|---|
Actual | Historical | |
April: | 5.21 | 3.79 |
May: | 0.93 | 3.80 |
June: | 0.46 | 1.22 |

Good morning all. 65 here this morn but I woke early. Supposed to get a little rain
around 3 am but lots more during the day today. Supposed to be clear at 4 am and
for hours after so will get the dogs out for their walk. Think we've gotten an inch of
rain over last couple days. More than all during the month of May. Hope this isn't the
beginning of climate change for the northeast. This little period of drought isn't much
but if it continues will be really bad.
Went to the farmer's market Saturday and got laundry soap, 10 pounds of grass fed
hamburger, some snap peas I love to eat without cooking, some baby onions, and a
hanging flower basket to add to all the ones wife made up.
Working on the Monte Carlo, think I'm losing the transmission so might have to buy a
new one. about 2500 or so. Guess I was lucky to get by on this one for 18 years running
450 horsepower. Have new speakers on the way for it. Think the ones I put in the front
are midrange and don't put out low or high audio frequencies. The speakers I put in the
rear are from a GM car 1985 and one of them doesn't measure at 8 ohms, up around 40.
It works ok but doesn't sound as good as car stereos usually do.
We have a hose to water plants around the pool, branches off the hose going to the water
leveler. We didn't install the water leveler last year because of the pups and didn't really
need it last year.
I found a ribbon cable that about matches the one I ordered from Kenwood on April 7th.
Hope it works. They still haven't heard form the company in Japan as to when it will ship.
Ordered the substitute, will have to be very careful and slowly try to see if it will work.
Hope Kitty's illness goes away soon so can continue the analysis and treatment.
Enjoy the day all.

Hi Ernie and Paul,
God’s glorious water came yesterday at 3:15 p.m. as predicted and lasted through the evening and the night. From the looks of the water in the watering can and plant holders, I would say at least an inch or more. So welcome, in my perennial gardens.
A day of catch up and clean up here. Forecast precipitation 95% tomorrow so it may be a week of cool and cloudy days. It is presently 59 degrees.
Enjoy the day.

Hi Paul,
An interesting chart. There are comparisons being made here in Ohio with the drought of 1988. I remember it well. We were at our home in North Canton with almost an acre of land and perennial beds. They eventually put a water ban in place. It truly was a drought ~ and I’m hoping the rain we had yesterday and projected for tomorrow, will alleviate any drought conditions.

Hi Susan,
It just started raining here. Forecasted to stop by morning. I remember thee '88 drought though I don't think it affected the Northeast much.
Be well everyone.
